As the Linux version is delisted, how can I play it on Linux?
Interestingly on my steam deck it installs the windows version and uses a compatibily layer despite this not being explicitly specified in settings. If I click on the circled I icon, it says "Proton 8.0-3 selected by valve testing" . So I am not sure how to retrieve the Linux version there ; maybe force use of a compatibily tool and select "Steam Linux runtime 1.0 (scout)".
Also:
- my steamdeck running the windows version does show the game save data I made on my Linux laptop so this may not support cross save.
- right now I cannot play the Linux version on my laptop running Manjaro: it crashes immediately. I made it work a few years ago while my laptop had Ubuntu but if I remember correctly I had to track down some dependencies (deprecated packages from older ubuntu versions) and install them (or using steam runtime rather than native which I am using now should also help there?)
That's the problem. I can't force Steam to give me linux native version
What Linux distro/hardware are you using? Is it a steamdeck?
Could it be dependent on your region? FYI I am testing this in Germany.
Have you tried forcing the use of the compatibility layer "Steam Linux Runtime" instead of Proton? I usually have to force the use of the compatibility layer proton to start downloading windows games on my Linux laptop so the reverse may work here.
(Same place where Proton versions are. Just scroll list down.)
Can't launch the game (libicui18n.so.51: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory), but that's another question
Thanks, it helped.
