Where is the Linux version?
Do I understand correctly that this is the 2013 Tombraider the first installment in the survivor trilogy that continues with Rise of the Tombraider (2016) and Shadow of the Tombraider (2018). I have read in many places that this game was ported to Linux in 2016 and I can find other comments in this discussion board mentioning running the Linux port. But while I can find the mention of SteamOS/Linux on the steam page of Rise and Shadow of the Tombraider, the page for this first game https://store.steampowered.com/app/203160/Tomb_Raider/ only has the Windows and Macos logo. Thank you.

You can use Wine/Proton mode, protondb site says the game has "Platinum" compatibility.

The Linux version of Tomb Raider (2013) has been removed from sale due to the license expiring for that specific title. Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider are still available to purchase on Linux.

Thank you for your replies @Aleosha12 @Feral Interactive
I also found a discussion on this topic here:

I am sorry to ask this, but I am no steam expert. I played Rise of the Tomb Raider on my Linux machine and now want to play Tomb Raider (2013).
As the Linux version is delisted, how can I play it on Linux?
OK, found out how sto start it with Proton. Thank you.

Although it is not listed, you can still install the native Linux version if you buy it on Steam. No need for Proton.

When I install it on my Linux laptop, it installs the linux version (I check this by going to manage->properties->InstalledFiles and clicking browse then confirming this has the Linux executable file and folder structure). If I want to install and play the Windows version, I think I have to force the use of a compatibility tool (eg Proton Experimental) in manage (the gear icon)->properties->compatibility: AFAIK on my Linux laptop I cannot play Win only games if I do not select that option.

Interestingly on my steam deck it installs the windows version and uses a compatibily layer despite this not being explicitly specified in settings. If I click on the circled I icon, it says "Proton 8.0-3 selected by valve testing" . So I am not sure how to retrieve the Linux version there ; maybe force use of a compatibily tool and select "Steam Linux runtime 1.0 (scout)".

Also:
- my steamdeck running the windows version does show the game save data I made on my Linux laptop so this may not support cross save.
- right now I cannot play the Linux version on my laptop running Manjaro: it crashes immediately. I made it work a few years ago while my laptop had Ubuntu but if I remember correctly I had to track down some dependencies (deprecated packages from older ubuntu versions) and install them (or using steam runtime rather than native which I am using now should also help there?)

For me Steam installs a Windows version with TombRaider.exe which isn't running for obvious reasons without Proton
That's the problem. I can't force Steam to give me linux native version

What Linux distro/hardware are you using? Is it a steamdeck?
Could it be dependent on your region? FYI I am testing this in Germany.

Have you tried forcing the use of the compatibility layer "Steam Linux Runtime" instead of Proton? I usually have to force the use of the compatibility layer proton to start downloading windows games on my Linux laptop so the reverse may work here.

Set under Properties, compatibility, to Steam Linux Runtime.
(Same place where Proton versions are. Just scroll list down.)

It worked, thanks.
Can't launch the game (libicui18n.so.51: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory), but that's another question
