There's a huge difference between innovating and forgetting the core. Square forgot all, dropped the skillful climbing, acrobatics, exploration without x-ray and mandatory puzzles to focus on survival, stealth, too much drama, and more gunfights in one game than in all 6 first games combined. Those should be additions, not new focuses. The talented fan Nicobass is remaking Tomb Raider 2 with Unreal Engine 4 (maybe he'll use UE5 now), his demo is the proof that the atmosphere of the classic can be in perfect harmony with modern graphics and gameplay. http://tombraider-dox.com/downloads/ Fan games take really long to be done because few people work on them on their free time only, but they're jewels when they're done. If Square and Crystal don't learn a tiny bit from his demo and keep trying to copy Uncharted, they'll stay behind and fans will keep focused on classic, with temporary hype when a new game comes and focus back to the classics few weeks later. (Shadow of TR is big proof)
The reboot trilogy already went slightly downhill and needs to turn back IMO.Back to TR 2013 in terms of the gameplay and storytelling.
I agree, i hate the statue too and her look don't need change maybe 3-5 years more. The good point is Crystal dynamics will work on This TR as Tomb Raider 2013 and Rise, also a new engine with better graphics and this game is supposed to loop with TR1. That game will be very interesting
The dual pistols are not just okay, they're Lara's mark and without them she's incomplete like Indiana Jones without whip. In modern gameplay the dual pistols fit perfectly in free shooting (attack while running or jumping), which Uncharted 1 already had in 2007 but none of the 3 reboot TR games had.
I'm more focused on fan remasters and remakes though. OpenLara, TR3 HD, TR2 Remake, TR6 Restored, not to forget brilliant custom games from the Level Editor community.
I think they made a lara more crying because more feminists are playing this game since the reboot and they want a lara emotionally to feel like them... also the dev team have more women. The team that worked on the Tomb Raider Classics and were basically all men could be the reason why the game had more action then emotion..
A REAL LIFE EXAMPLE of feminine badass woman is Karina Oliani from Discovery Brazil. She came to my college once and wearing a flower dress told us about the many times she did parachuting and swam with sharks and when she climbed THE Everest. Beautiful, feminine, badass and real. Those feminists need to grow up a little and understand that this is the kind of person classic Lara was. Rare, but not unreal.
But that will be a brand new game like 2023-2025 ? Soo i believe in Crystal Dynamics, they build most of the best TR so far with old engine. Now combinate the best engine with an environment we always like from them and new contains.. this game will not be a remake.. if you liked her hair, water reflection from SOTTR and skin details from ROTTR and environment of TR1, you will likes The new one.
