Would you mind explaining how to do that? Also, checking on steamdb[steamdb.info], I don't see build 748. Is there another place where depots are stored?
In my case, there were 5 depots installed for Tomb Raider.
When you look at these depots on Steam DB, make sure you use the most recent manifest ID dated before 2021, as those will be for build 748.
Download each of your required depots using the command line tool, as shown in the guide. Once you’ve got them, switch the game back to current release mode, and verify the game files to make Steam think the game is up-to-date. After that, go into the game’s install folder, and delete everything. Then place the downloaded files there and it should work.
Awesome, thanks for the guide. So, even though the branch for build 748 isn't listed, the depots themselves are still available?
Build 748 is the best, all UI elements are correctly aligned, and it doesn't drop to 20 fps randomly, which happened with build 743.
I know all this isn't user friendly by any means, but it's the best way to fix the game!
I just found recent guides that seem to indicate the Steam console can still be used to download previous versions. Check here and here.
Perhaps the functionality had only been temporarily disabled?
When I tried using the Steam console, any download attempt failed with HTTP 401 error. Which is why I had to use a third-party tool for this.
Edit: details here...

Perhaps someone else can try using the Steam console, but I have no reason to investigate this further. At least, until another game gets broken by an update, which I’m sure won’t be too long.
Right, which is what makes me think the functionality in the console may have been reinstated, since these guides are from last month. If I try it myself, I'll post an update here.
Indeed but I'm hoping the console will work because I'm not too keen on entering my account details in a 3rd party app. Although admittedly it's a well-known app.
After I had finished with this app, I simply de-authorized all devices. The code is open source, it would be a pretty dumb idea to log/steal credentials here. Doing so would get spotted by the community faster than you can say “scam”.
Most of the developers that hang out on GitHub are very talented, much more than I’ll ever be. Maybe one day, I’ll make it.
Note that I never enabled the MultiCoreFlushMode manually though. I think this registry key always existed on my PC. Probably would have been enabled back when build 748 was the production release, and the key never got removed.
So I believe I have found a solution for the UI off screen issue without having to downgrading version of Tomb Raider. So for those who have NVIDIA graphics cards like me the way I have fixed the problem is the following:
1. Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
2. In Display category, go to Adjust desktop size and position.
3. Select display and change scaling mode to Full_screen.
4. Hit Apply.
I have 2 monitors so I had both of mine to Full screen. Tested the game and the UI is in correct position. I'm not sure about AMD but assume the software has the scaling mode somewhere but would need to be full screen instead of aspect ratio.
Hope this helps everyone :)
