Collectable markers on the map
When referencing the map for collectables, aren't their markers supposed to disappear when each has been discovered?

For instance, after completing the story I've gone back to finish a section that shows a relic and document symbol still to be discovered (I think). Yet when I'm in those two spots, both items are nowhere to be seen (even with survival instinct active).

As a more specific example, the box where the relic once was is still there, but empty with the lid open.

I've restarted the game, but the issue persists.

Or am I misunderstanding something?

Thanks.

They do disappear, sometimes there are relics in the same place i think. Try reloading a save and check again

Lar Dass (ha)....Thanks for this. I've restarted the game but the issue persists.

Or what do you mean specifically by reloading a save?

Do you know if the achievements are tied to each save, or if they are cumulative across all saved games?

Id you have saved manually then you will be able to reload them. Relying solely on autosave isnt the best thing as if issues such as these happen then it will make it easier. On the map the things that dissapear are the challenges like the "shooting the posters" as youve found them all. Gps caches and docs and relics stay on the map. Sorry for the confusion

Well. I feel silly now that I know what the issue was; but if this can help someone else, I don't mind slapping myself with a wet noodle.

I hadn't been paying attention to collectibles and achievements (nor the map) until I was a ways into the game. I'd been misinterpreting the map symbols. I just realized that when a document or relic is found, that's when its location marker changes from light grey to black.

I'd been thinking the opposite, that those shown prominently on the map in black were undiscovered [facepalm].

Lar Dass: as far as I can see the game only allows autosaving. In any case, it was a simple reevaluation of the map that answered my own question. Thanks anyways!

If you press esc youll see a change save slot or change slot which can be used for manual saving. Great to do before boss fights just incase your weapons or ammo are pretty low and you end up dying. I played on normal difficulty though so i didnt have much of a problem but those on the hardest may want to try this

Lar Dass: I saw that entry for "Change Slot" but until you explained it here, really didn't know how it could be useful (as in "why would I change the save slot?"). Thanks for explaining that, appreciated!

its just for manual saves, there should be a "new slot" option there for a new ave, for example for me i have 5 manual saves aswell as my normal autosave at different % of the game, you dont need to do it i just did as a precaution, have fun!
