Endurance Boss Fight-Bug

Every time I get to the quicktime event where Lara hits the giant in the face with the ice pick the game just freezes after hitting him once. The sound continues to play but the image is frozen. This bug is a plot-stopper since I am not able to continue the game now...

Anyone else had that problem? Any suggestions?`

My first idea was to turn down the graphics settings, set anything down to 800x600 windowed with everything at the lowest settings, but no success...

Edit: I now managed to get over the plotstopper by downloading a savegame made after defeating the boss...

Got the same problem yesterday. Lowering the graphic settings to high (same resolution) solved it for me.

I have played through the game by now. Never encountered a problem like that again.

Here I am almost two years later with an i7/GTX1080Ti/64GbRam machine and have the same problem. It happens on all graphics settings. I was thinking that the game was just too old to work on modern equipment, but I see this is not a new problem.
Any other suggestions?

If nothing else helps google for Tomb Raider 2013 savegames and download and copy one that's just after that fight.

After quitting and reloading about 20 times, it suddenly just worked with no other changes made.

could be due to graphics settings, i have a similar bug:

climbing this crevice at the start of the game and releasing the 'up' key will result in an instant crash most of the time; also it crashed there with high settings multiple times in a row.

If someone is still having this problem like me, changing from 144hz to 60hz helped me. Changing graphics settings alone had no effect.

I'm stuck at the same boss right now, somehow I can't manage to kill him. I hit him with a counter, then a headshot, but it only stuns him. When he's stunned, I can attack him with the axe, and then I get a prompt to swing the axe again for what I assume is supposed to be the finishing blow, but each time I try he just grabs me by the throat instead and throws me to the ground, and then continues fighting.

Must have stunned him at least 10 or 15 times by now and he's still swinging. None of the other weapons do anything against him because he's so heavily armored.

Yes, as I said, I figured out that much. But I must have tried it like 20 times now and I can never seem to hit the key at the right time. Very annoying.

EDIT: okay, a few hours later I managed it. The timing has to be exactly right. You gotta wait for the red exclamation point to appear before pressing ANY button.

Same here,stucked with picture freeze after hitting F, sounds keep playing. Any ideas except of graphics settings change? Anyway enjoying the game, want to finish the story.
