Tried it. Didn't work. Thanks for the advice anyway.
I don't know who you are addressing with your post, but these are Xbox controller files, so your advice is useless.
Driver already up to date, still won't work.
I just finalized the installation, same issue as all you other guys. The solution follows.
I am running these drivers for my video - 8.982.0.0 , Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher - These are auto-push drivers from microsoft on a ATI 5750 .
The initial issue was the same, no launch. Starting task manager (shortcut CTRL+Shift+ESC) , I noticed that task HMA.exe *32 (the game runs in 32 bit mode, I am on windows 7 professional 64) was running but not active. I killed task mom.exe (something in the catalyst suite) and a register nag screen popped up. I clicked out of it and the game menu popped up.
I hope it helps, it's a software bug, probably something to do with ATI that the hitman group didn't see because they are running high end drivers for testing.
Good luck, I'm gonna play

I don´t have Xbox or controllers (only keyboard+mouse).
Me: win7 64bit but game refused to start until that. Updated all drivers...
Trying starting over steam....popup and off
Trying starting by hma.exe ->blabla error xinput9_1_0.dll
so this fixed it for me
PS: ...and on WinServer2008 R2 Enterprise
I have BitDefender Internet Security 2011. After I uninstalled it (grudgingly) - the game WORKS.
Previously neither Absolution nor Sniper Challenge would work, but now both work, though I feel like a randy pervert in a bordello without a condom.
This is definetley IOI fault and it needs a patch ASAP. I mean what kind of developer requires you to unintall your anti-virus software to play a game online. Morons.
Good to hear. Your xinput9_1_0.dll was probably corrupted.
I can confirm this as well. A complete uninstall of my antivirus program = I can now play the game.
This is the worst "FIX" I've ever seen..I would not be surprised if this is because the game includes some rootkit antipiracy-thing that interferes with the AV. It's happened before (see SONY DRM scandal)
