Can't Launch Hitman Absolution?
1 of 2 error message will come up upon an attempted launch of Hitman: Absolution. Either the game is currently unavailable due to the application supposedly running, or nothing happens at all. My computer outpaces all of the system requirements, and I have tried literally every fix that would come to mind, from disabling firewalls to validating files to deleting clientregistry.blob to running the .exe in administrator. Every website with a supposed fix just lists one of the things mentioned above, and I have yet to hear of anyone with this problem getting it to work.

So really I'd just like to make a tally: How many people are having this problem?

My Steam won't load up! Halp!
If you are having issues with Steam, locate the Steam folder and delete the file called clientregistry.blob and try loading it again.

Tried it. Didn't work. Thanks for the advice anyway.

-looked up x360ce_vibmod_3.1.4.1
-copied x360ce.ini and xinput3_1.dll into appfolder (where hma.exe is placed)
-renamed xinput3_1.dll to xinput9_1_0.dll

playing now ;)

I don't know who you are addressing with your post, but these are Xbox controller files, so your advice is useless.

Updatet my Nvidia Driver and the problem was history.

Driver already up to date, still won't work.

For what it's worth, I'm a pretty good IT technician, I am not your technician so I do not guarantee success on this method.

I just finalized the installation, same issue as all you other guys. The solution follows.

I am running these drivers for my video - 8.982.0.0 , Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher - These are auto-push drivers from microsoft on a ATI 5750 .

The initial issue was the same, no launch. Starting task manager (shortcut CTRL+Shift+ESC) , I noticed that task HMA.exe *32 (the game runs in 32 bit mode, I am on windows 7 professional 64) was running but not active. I killed task mom.exe (something in the catalyst suite) and a register nag screen popped up. I clicked out of it and the game menu popped up.

I hope it helps, it's a software bug, probably something to do with ATI that the hitman group didn't see because they are running high end drivers for testing.

Good luck, I'm gonna play

i have had these issues as well, but i worked around the game unavailable by going into task manager and shutting down the steam process. that fixes it every time for me. I have never had a situation where the game simply doesnt start. are you guys short on memory or CPU power?

Ok I have the same problem. I downloaded the game and it didn't want to open. I also downloaded the preload onto my other computer (which is currently dead). I extracted my steam folder and placed it on this computer and still nothing. I get the Application Running error and the infamous nothing happens. However I did find that when it appears to be doing nothing, it is actually creating a error dump file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Hitman Absolution. I have sent this file off to Steam but still no word yet. Any advice My computer still has no problem loading Sniper Challenge

just fixed it. i had to go to nvidia and download their recommended driver then it wanted to update again. and now it works... but for how long?

OK I got it to work as well.

I have BitDefender Internet Security 2011. After I uninstalled it (grudgingly) - the game WORKS.

Previously neither Absolution nor Sniper Challenge would work, but now both work, though I feel like a randy pervert in a bordello without a condom.

This is definetley IOI fault and it needs a patch ASAP. I mean what kind of developer requires you to unintall your anti-virus software to play a game online. Morons.

Good to hear. Your xinput9_1_0.dll was probably corrupted.

I can confirm this as well. A complete uninstall of my antivirus program = I can now play the game.

This is the worst "FIX" I've ever seen..I would not be surprised if this is because the game includes some rootkit antipiracy-thing that interferes with the AV. It's happened before (see SONY DRM scandal)

I have the same problem. I recently installed the game (which was hard enough to do on it's own because of other problems) then it had a 2gb update which took forever to download. Now when I try to launch it it says' 'Preparing to launch Hitman: Absolution' then that disappears and it says I'm in game. Then it come's up with a message saying 'Completing Installation: 1%' but then that closes and gives me a different error every time. I think it has something to do with the servers according to one of the errors.
