No sound?

I get sound in the cutscenes/menus etc, but as soon as I get into the actual game I hear a popping noise like a jack has been unplugged and BAM! no sound any more. Tried drivers to no avail, can anyone halp me?

i5 2500k 4.5GHz
8GB RAM
6950 2GB
Xonar DG - tried uninstalling, removing card etc to no effect

I've had that happen before on my pc, a restart usually fixes it. try the usual stuff (dx update and so forth)

f you are certain you have reinstalled the latest working drivers, try testing with different sound acceleration levels. This option is only available for Windows XP. From your Windows XP desktop:

Click on Start
Click on Run
In the text area type dxdiag and press OK.
After the DirectX Diagnostic Tool has finished loading click on the Sound or Sound 1 tab located at the top.
Set the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level to Standard Acceleration by moving the slider bar.
Test the game this way, and also try lowering the Acceleration to Basic or None.


If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, try disabling compatibility mode if it has been enabled:

Go to the game shortcut in your steam files C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common...
Right Click Hitman.exe
Select Properties
Click on the Compatibility tab
Make sure the Run this program in compatibility mode is NOT checked.
Click OK.

i have the exact same problem, rather anoying playing with no sound so i wont untill someone knows or when devs make a fix for this >< ... sighs

Same issue here on MacBook Pro with Retina Display under Windows 8 Pro. Only sound within the cut scenes. The onboard sound card is a Cirrus Logic CS4206B (AB 40).

Playing with headphones should work. Or right click your speaker options and uncheck Stereo Mix

how would playing with headphones be different .... anyways i play with headphones currently anyways , no sound , just in menu and cutscnes and just what OP said , just after you regain control of your character you hear that popping noise and the sound is gone completely , and yes i have the latest drivers >.<

The game conflicts with the audio software and it thinks the headphones are in or out.

Try plugging into he jack and then out.

well oke , it doesnt work anyway the first thing i did was unplug my headphones and back in doesnt seem to resolve it ,

if anyone have a better solution plz lemme know i refuse to play without sound :s

If your using realtek audio its a known bug. You have to disable a certain device that keep conflicting.
