You can run Windows on a Mac.
Your best bet (and anyone wanting to play the majority of PC games on a Mac) is to buy* an OEM or Retail copy of Windows 7 (should be cheap to pick up now Windows 8 is out) and either;
1. Install using Boot Camp (it will create a Windows partition on your hard drive and you'll have to reboot to/from Windows), you Mac will run Windows as if it were a regular Windows PC**.
2. Use virtualisation software such as Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion to run Windows on a virtual machine from within OS X.
Both methods have their virtues and vices;
• Boot Camping offers the best performance, and is the cheapest route, but requires rebooting.
• Virtualising doesn't require rebooting, but has limitations and performance issues, it's also more expensive.
My advice would be to start off with Boot Camping, and if you find the rebooting too much of a pain, pick up either Parallels of VMware, as both now support using an existing Boot Camp partition in place of a virtual disk image.
Some additional info;

• VMware Fusion - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware_Fusion

* Other acquisition methods are available.
** For the most part.
