Her death was faked, it's just poorly explained until the end as a (badly done) plot twist so even players don't know until the reveal.
47 had been gone since Blood Money (where he faked his death and an entire branch of the ICA had been shut down to the protect the rest of the organization). There's a book before Absolution where he comes out of hiding and is assigned a new handler.
47 is ordered to kill her by his new handler. She's left him a note asking that if he chooses to kill her that he at least take care of Victoria. He obviously chose to not kill her.
By the time the note is done being read, you realize 47 and Diana are both alive and Victoria is free.
The entire game was just one long personal agenda mission of 47 taking down the rogue ICA manager and all of his mercenaries. The ICA is compartmentalized, so branches often operate independent of each other, 47 and Diana use her faked death to remove that entire branch.
As for the voice actors yea, that's on Square-Enix, they almost replaced 47 as well but fans were able to protest and they relented and kept him, but still replaced her.
It's very cheap that they couldn't even hire a voice actor who sounded similar to Diana's (british?) accent.
The game looks rushed and more like a movie at some points especially when trying to get away from the cops during this long sequence. It looked nice on the trailer showing this game play footage but somehow I find it boring while doing it. It's a dumb mechanic to be able to see anyone behind walls with unlimited focus while on normal difficulty as well as conveniently revealing plot points destroying the vigilance/exploration/discussion (talking to other people to gain intel) parts of the previous games. Like is 47 now a terminator all of a sudden?! He self heals as well!
The way the shooting happens to me looks a lot like an arcade compared to the previous versions.
Being able to kill the first target (chinese boss) in 12 different ways (afaik) is quite nice tho. The game has 90% positive ratings on Steam somehow.
The story also basically showed the middle finger to everything it had established & created with the previous games. Diana saves your butt, you decide to fulfil the agencies request to silence her only to end up going against the agency anyways. Not to mention how he gets caught twice. Considering his numerous experience. Just mind blown how bad the writing is.
