So. The nuns... Lets talk about them.

So. These nuns. The ones that you encounter half way through the game. As I understand they were quite the source of controversy when game came out. Now generally speaking I tend to like sexualized characters a lot. I've played games like Nier Automata before. However. These nuns kinda out there. They seem so far off left field that it kinda starts to feel a bit immersion breaking to be honest. My first thought when I saw these characters was"Why nuns". I don't really have an issue with sexualized characters if they are implemented in a way that works. But these ones. They just feel really out of place and random. What do you think? Am I overreacting or is the implementation of these characters justified?

There was barely any controversy. It was mentioned when the trailer dropped that it seemed weird he was killing BDSM nuns, the director made one apology and explained it made more sense in context if you played the game and then everyone stopped talking about it.

They are an infiltration team, they wear outlandish things to accomplish their goals and he's killing them in self defense, end of controversy.

Not really, it was definitely catchy, especially in the trailer.
Marilyn Manson (the artist) made a near-identical copy of it for his music video some years later, it was more controversial.
