Fellow mac user here, been playing the game for about a week never been able to load a player created contract. Are the servers down or is it me? How can I even check? www.hitman.com is all about the new game :(
I would give my opinion on what kind of a strategy that is, but Steam would automatically censor it. ;)
I hate it when developers do stuff like this to make you buy their things. But thanks anyway for the possible explanation.
Same here, but I doubt it was the developers making that call and more likely someone a bit further up the chain. Most likely saving money on hosting multiple server types ... especially when the new game appears from the advertisements to be just an open world version of the contracts mode (not sure whether you can make contracts for others, which is what I generally found to be the most fun part of that mode).
The "~/Library/Application Support/Feral Interactive/Hitman Absolution/" folder contains all the preferences and save data, the game itself is in "~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Hitman Absolution/Hitman Absolution.app/" (all OS X apps are actually directories which contain everything necessary to run whatever it is, even if that's a Windows game with a WINE based framework, which is what all Cider ports are and a lot of Feral's work has all the hallmarks of the same sort of thing).
I'm not sure, I've never tried it. I recommend changing the entire directory name in the Feral directory so it's backed up and then launching the game, that will probably force the game to recreate the directory and everything in it and should reset everything (unless it syncs with your Steam username and restores the achievements). Either way, it's probably worth making a zip file of the whole thing before changing anything just in case.
