Cannot use 120Hz TFT frequency in Game, no option?
There is no option for select the frequency of my TFT Samsung RZ2233 to use 120Hz in Game instead of 60Hz as in Windows? All games (MW1-3, Black Ops 1 and BF3 )have this. Also the launch options of Steam like -freq 120 -refresh 120 dont help! What the hell....!!!!

Should auto work? because mines 144hz and if I turn on sync every frame it sits at 144fps the whole time.

you're resolution might not be able to run 120hz over 1440x900 pixels.

No, I dont mean FPS = Frames per second, which are above 150 FPS. I want to select the REFRESH RATE of the monitor. In Black Ops1 and BF3 you can change it in the game options, from 60Hz over 100, 110 and 120 Hz. Black Ops 2 uses ONLY the Windows setting, normal 60Hz. I cannot believe but the option is not available.

It doesn't matter as long as you have your monitor set to 120hz it will refresh at that rate.

Wow im looking for a new screen but i thought 120 hertz was the highest. I have like 200 fps maxed out on full hd no joke, whats your monitor?

Hello Raider, make sure to use DVI cable to achieve 120Hz it will not work with HDMI
hope it helps

Dont confuse FPS with Hz! Black Ops 2 only uses the Windows setting, which is normal 60Hz. When I set it to 120Hz then Black Ops 2 runs with 120Hz vertical refresh rate of the monitor. BUT in Windows 7 the graphics card wont go to idle state cause of 120Hz, it stays at 3D-clocks. Therefore any other game has this option of the refresh rate of monitor. You guys mixed it with FPS, which are the frames that are produced by the graphics card, but it isnt the REAL refresh rate of the monitor. Black Ops 2 has only the option for the FPS, that any other game have not so far, because it isnt needed. So you can see in the upper right range the FPS, but my TFT only changes its real "frames" only 60 times per second, but it has the opportunity to do this 120 times per second (Hz). And that cannot be changed, what a dilemma! I can set a "GAME CONTROLLER" at PC but no options for a GOOD monitor with 120Hz at PC. Thats really poor!

Same issue. Furthermore, this Optimus technology is making other avenues of manually controlling the refresh rate impossible due to auto switching to the integrated intel gpu when outside the game.. anyone figured a work around yet? No going to use a third party program as there should be some inputs/launch options that work in game or in steam.. wise men, where art thou?

Raider, have you found any solutions to this? As it seems there are not many who have truly grasped the issue we are facing... a simple in-game display option of selecting desired refresh rate would SOLVE this issue immediately,, i agree it is a poor and rushed development showing its ugly and inconsiderate face after dropping $60!!

One thing. I need your hardware information.

i use a sager 11.6 inch notebook, intel integrated 3000, and gt650m GPU, quad core I7 3630QM 2.4ghz..64 bit os.. though I'm pretty sure the kicker is this "optimus" stuff that isnt allowing me to set custom resolutions in the NVIDIA control panel due to the integrated gpu taking over when your outside a game, (another reason why the ingame option would fix this).. perhaps there is a launch option for bo2 that will work with steam since these types of in-game display option aren't available? or better yet, lets see an update from the game developers.,,

oh and sorry, its the intel integrated 4000HD, not the 3000 like i typed above..

I think I know what problem here. If you have Nvidia control panel or Virtu MVP. Trying to disable those. If not help, uninstalling those two. There have been known issued for merge between Intel and Nvidia.

Thanks for the reply,, i do have the nVidia control panel, though it is not showing a display option.. just 3d settings and video.. i was told this is due to the optimus allocating the display options to the intel integrated graphics.. and I can confirm this because the intel control panel does allow me to make all the custom resolutions, etc,, though doesnt get as detailed as nVIDIA in allowing me to set custom in game specific refresh rates after optimus has allowed the gt650 to take over.. so are you suggesting I remove the inel control panel? how would that stop the bottlekneck iam getting due to optimus?

as a side note.. when I conntect this notebook to my tv through HDMI I can get 70hz (but not 75hz) out of it on my windows 7 desktop.. though this is only cause the intel control panel is allowing me to do this when my tv monitor is selected.. and when i can do this is carries over to when I launch the game and is a noticeable improvement! .. however i believe I could still get more if i wasnt bottleknecked by the intel control panel.. ,, as above.. if onl i had an ingame option or steam launch instruction to select or force the desired refresh rate respectively, after optimus has allowed the gt650m to takeover in game, then I think that would do it..

thanks for pondering this with me,,.. interested in hearing your reply..

also, I stated above that the intel control panel allows me to make custom resolutions while im using the notebooks monitor,,but does not allow me to select more than 60hz as it claims unable due to bandwidth... which is what leads me to believe the gt650m could pull it off if I were able to fully utilize the nVidia control panel,, (though as stated above, optimus "technology" is preventing me from tweaking utilization of the gt650m when im outside the game.. i.e. on the windows7 desktop.. thus again pointing me towards the ease of an in-game option or steam launch refresh force solution (after optimus has already allowed the gt650m to takeover in game)
