Yea, Black Ops II doesn't just use the default playback device, only capture.
Is the headset surround sound or anything?

Do you have the driver installed? Once you do that try disabling all other playback devices in windows then boot bo2 and try to set it as the audio device in the menu.

If your headset is working fine playing music and watching videos outside of Bo2, then you probably just need to adjust the sound settings in-game. Make sure you change the default audio device to your headset, and also if in a voice chat make sure to click "automatically detect audio device" under microphone settings. If your device doesn't come up, you might need to exit out and restart BO2 for it to show up. That happens to me all the time if I plug in my headset while I already have the game open.

Hope that helps

Its a problem with the skullcandy plyr series of headphones. I know I'm quite late to the party, but after I switched to a different headphone, the audio just worked.

I am super late on this thread but I have been having the same problem with Bose Quite comfort headset. I don't have any sounds when playing COD black ops game. I don't have any issue playing other games or listen to music on YouTube or any other application. I hope someone can provide with a solution.
