Can you get banned for modding private lobbies?

Okay so I've seen those videos by those popular Cod players on youtube and most of em have at least 1 modded lobby thing and the post the modder in the description. Wouldn't they want to hide who it was? Or can you not get banned if you do it in a private match. I'm not saying I'm going to mod or hack, I'm just wondering why the modder doesn't want to be hidden. Thanks

for the record, NO MODS ARE ALLOWED. It dowsn't matter what you're using it for or what the mod does. Activision don't like mods. It's simple as that. If you want to play call of duty with mods, buy a disc copy of call of duty like CoD 4 or World at War because you'll get banned on Steam doing this ♥♥♥♥ if you get caught.

Yes. You can be vac banned for modding private lobbies. It happened to me. I didn't even go online, and yet treyarch still ♥♥♥♥♥ you.

Redacted isn't even tied to steam, so you're not going to get banned at all. And why would you need a VPN? What would be the point.

Edit : And how is a VPN going to stop a VAC ban?
