runasadmin.vdf 202990 - what is this that wants to install on my pc.
Everytime I run Black Ops II on my windows Vista PC, The user account control program pops up asking to install this file. I only noticed it this morning and not to sure what it is. If I cancel black ops II still loads up. But can someone shed some light on what is this that wasnt to install.

C:\Programfiles\Steam\bin\Steamservice.exe" /installscript "C:\Programfiles\Steam\Steamapps\common\Call of Duty black ops II\runasadmin.vdf" 202990

I don't get this on my Window 7 PC btw only Vista.

Don't know if this will be off any use for you:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2662425

Could try doing the same to the BO2 folders and see what happens.

found this after a minute of google..

"- exit Steam
- right-click Steam icon, "Run as administrator"
- start Dishonored (to trigger the problematic step)
- exit Dishonored
- exit Steam again
- start Steam normally. "

not the exact same problem, but could work.

also:

"Your problem is that you're using Vista. " - some random forum

last but not least:

"Try removing and reinstalling XNA framework, that solved it for me. "

Have you solved the problem? I wanted to reinstall Oblivion, but that file is in my Oblivion folder and is preventing Steam from installing the game and me from deleting the Oblivion folder. Don't know what to do.

This is an ancient thread but for those finding it from search here's a possible fix. (I had this issue with Endless Space 208140). It seems that there's some logic in SteamService.exe that checks for registry keys. Specifically it looks at HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Valve\Steam\Apps\<APPID>\<KEY>

Look up the config for your app on SteamDB. Call of Duty Black Ops can be found https://steamdb.info/app/202990/config/.

Look at the keys it's going to check. In COD's case: "vcredist" and "directx".
Use regedit.exe and navigate to that location and create REG_DWORD values set to 1 with those key names.

Now SteamService.exe will see that the update was "installed" and it'll not try to install it again.

And if regedit has been disabled?

And if regedit has been disabled?

You could try `reg.exe` or PowerShell's `HKLM:\` virtual filesystem to make changes; otherwise you might need to ask your administrator to make the change for you.

Hi, I have the same problem with the game Sniper Ghost Warrior 2, I have reinstalled it about 3 times and it still makes me feel like it and it doesn't come into play, has anyone ever had this problem?
