in my situation, this game was purchased for me to play while recovering from a shoulder injury. i cant sit at a desk & play with a m/k because of my injury. im stuck at home for several months while in physical therapy so this was a game i got to help pass the time.

i will address these common responses 1st so you can avoid posting the same factually incorrect statements others have who are not educated on aim assist & controllers:

1)"just learn how to play with m/k"
2)"aim assist is a hack"
3)"controllers aren't for PCs"
4)"aim assist is not for PCs"
5)"aim assist will give unfair advantage & ruin the game"
6)"go buy a console if you want to play with a controller"


1)i cant because of my injury.
2)see video, its not a hack in anyway, it just makes up for the limitations that controllers have regarding precision.
3)PCs are made to do many things in 2013 including using controllers for games.
4)the official PC manual only available on activision website says there is aim assist.
5)right now there is a huge advantage when aimming with a mouse/keyboard & it ruins the game for people who have to use controllers, adding aim assist wont give controller users any unfair advantage, it will only partly close the gap on the huge unfair advantage mouse/keyboard players have now.
6)some people cant afford buying a console & a tv & everything else. some people wont do all that just to play 1 game that is made to play on PC with a controller that is just missing 1 simple feature that would resolve the problem.

there is many players, including myself, who bought PC version of Black Ops 2 to play with controllers & were suprised when they found out that there is no aim assist because the official manual for PCs on activision's website said there would be aim assist & because all games like this have some form of aim assist when using controllers because of the way controllers work.

people who use a mouse & keyboard already have a huge advantage & adding aim assist will not completely level the playing field, but it will make it a better gaming experience for everyone & make it somewhat more fair. to hit the target before they hit me is not usually the problem, its when the target starts moving & not being able to follow the target because of the look sensitivity is the problem.

if you play with a m/k & you have an opinion on this issue, please add to the discussion. but anyone who just wants to ruin the game for other people & to have an unfair advantage over other people with not be responded to because this post is about improving the gameplay for all honest people who like fair competition when playing online with all different types of people who have different needs & preferences.

well i dont agree with the aim assist. however if they said it would be there then they should add it or take that off of there manual. there are tricks even when i used to play on ps before going to pc to aim better. even on pc with mouse and keyboard there are tricks. one of which was to use your movement stick to help aim as well. for pc that would be using your wsad keys. i would use this especially when sniping as mouse movement can be fast.

as your person moves a lot slower. i understand all you have is a pc and got hurt and sorry for that hope you heal and get better. but when play on a pc most ppl know to use keyboard and mouse. and if so choose a controller then that is on them. not sure if you can use both at the same time. some games like bf3 with a controller plugged in you can go from either one. i have not plugged in the 360 controller yet on bo2 to see if i can use both.

on consoles i know you can now plug in keyboard and mouse. i am not sure if aim assist still works or not. (dont own a console now).

allowing aim assist at times can also now give a controller an advantage. why quick scoping is much more effective on consoles then on pc. it widens the hit zone.

just takes some time to get used to it. i bet once you get it down you wont care either way. i go and play console with cousins and nephews and get owned, once i start to get back into it and used to the controls i can hold my own.

i would start out with look sensitivity low and eventually full. and even then it still seems slow lol. same with new games for the most part.

have you turned that down so that you dont overaim for now. get used to that and then slowly up the sensitivity? and again as i said try to move your player around as well for aiming.

and i think both have there pros and cons. the biggest on pc for me is mouse seems to be the best to aim. and i have more buttons, however for buttons if i use one that i dont use that often i sometimes have to quickly look down. i am used to my main buttons but that is it lol. other buttons to use are a reach at times.

were as a controller might not be the best for aiming per say (although once you get used to it not bad either) but you have all the buttons in your hands and once you learn each one its pretty easy to use. and a lot of ppl move as they play which works well with controller. and you can adjust your body and what not pretty easy.

so to me its like perks. all are great for there reason but we cant use them all. (unless mw3) so you must choose what to use and what to give up.

in your case you are kinda forced to go with controller. but remember too without aim assist on, when you do play with your buddy, you will be much better.

the aim assist function under options have no effect in online game! On Console like xbox. On PC there is no aim assist.

dont even see it in my game in online. each game (sp, mp, zombies) has there own things. when i go from one to the other my settings do not stay. tell i set it up for that part of the game. for mp i dont see an option at all for aim assist. and not in sp either. i would go for aim assist for sp mode for sure though. that would not hurt at all.

@ OP: Give it a rest bro, they aren't going to give you aim assist. Do something more constructive with your time while healing from your shoulder injury and when you are all healed up, learn to play with a keyboard and mouse or buy a console. Typing your essays that are too long to read are a waste of time will do nothing.

if i could just play local multiplayer with my friend in the customs games with some computer bots then that would be fine with me. but again that was something after i bought it that i found out wasnt possible. a pcdev rep told me that there is no plans to make the pc verision with local multiplayer .
im not sure why they dont give pc users the same options as the ps3 & xbox versions. very uncool, & for me & many others it was a complete rip off.
i wont buy any more games from treyarch & ill make sure to tell everyone i know what kind of business they are running thats for sure, unless they do the respectable things & fix these issues so many people are having.

well they are working on it , either return my money , put aim asist on it like they said it has, or let us into the ps3 or xbox online mulitplayer. & its affecting a lot of people.
im not sure what your problem is & why you want people to waste their money & ruin the game for them.

If your willing to use a controller on a PC, then its your own risk to not have aim assist. Using a controller is just plain stupid. Controllers are only good on PC for single player.

they just dont do local split screen. i believe you can still lan party. not sure but most games do that at least. maybe not though. will have to look lol. as far as blaming treyarch though. most pc games dont do this either. only a few games even do split screen that i know of. and cant think of any fps games that do. the only few i know of are racing games. blur, split second and sonic racing. and then a couple more that allow more players on one computer are sports games and fighting games like street fighter.

and a lot of fps games out there i believe dont have aim assist either but allow a controller as well.

maybe not lan party then. you can set up a party and custom game though. but both players would have to have there own game then. be nice if this game allowed you to be able to play offline mode and then lan that way. cod4 was great cause you could play wirelessly with friends for lan party. and one cd key could be used. only 1 cd key at a time for online play. when in iraq with the army we all pitched in and bough cod4 and were all able to play it against each other. we let one person keep the cd to play online.

using a controller when you cant use a mouse & keyboard because of an injury is not stupid at all. also the instructions for PC said it would have aim assist so that its not wrong to expect the game to have aim assist.

yes page 4 of manual states SETTINGS
Adjust the game’s settings to suit individual preferences. Adjustable options include:
controller settings, aim assist, look sensitivity, graphic content filter, and subtitles.

because of this, they should add it or explain someplace that this only goes for consoles. as that is the case when speaking to them. now if anything they could have also added that just for solo play, zombies, or campaign or any mode that you dont go against other ppl.

i would like that and be happy with that. just so that i can get used to playing so if i go visit my family who all have consoles i would be ready lol. but at the same time if you play without aim assist and then you play it on console that has it. guess what it will just be easier then.

you do have an option to turn down the settings for gamepads so that it will aim slower tell you get used to it and then can turn that up. alot of times that is what ppl do for mouse as well. tell they get used to it then they can make it faster. some games all the way up is not fast enough lol. but i also get used to moving my player around as well to help aim.
