Unknown soldier?
Why there are so many "unknown soldier (place a number here)" players recently? I have found that many of them have wallhack and some of them aimbot. They not turn it on all the time, if you catch them they will turn it off and their kd ratio will settle so they may not get reported....Some others don´t hack...but wtF!!!

They are all hackers. Every player you see with that name should be reported.

Well not every player named "unknown soldier" hacks..:pdw:

Just because they have a ingame name like this, doesn't mean they are all cheating (as "{!i} Lexx #F0wnd" already said).

Black Ops 2 can't display nicknames with special characters, if a player using special characters in their nickname, Black Ops 2 will call them "Unknown Soldier" ingame.

"unknown soldier"Is a nickname not accepted by the game the user insert a nickname that causes error and the nickname on the match board will appear"unknown soldier", some of them are legit players...

has something to do with the way the name is. doesnt mean they are all cheats.

I heard the game also names you "Unknown Soldier" if your name contains less than 3 letters, which is the case for my friend, ekm (he plays legit).
When you have a name with symbols what Call of Duty not supports. NOBODY WITH THIS NAME HAS GOT AUTOMATICALLY A HACK!

Players will be labeled as Unknown Soldier if their Steam Name is four characters or less or if they contain any special characters.

Hello PCDev_Assist, I have a issue with the Unknown Soldier problem. Players seem to be able to automatically change their name to avoid detection even if their name doesn't fit that criteria. I was in a game today and saw this:

Report to Steam: Player was using multiple hacks on Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Zombies. Here are some screenshots. There seems to be a hack where you change or the game changes your name to Unknown Soldier (Insert number here) This is becoming a very big problem on both multiplayer and zombies mode. Thanks for your time.

Their name changed mid game back to Joe so if it isn't possible for the game to display three character names something is up. He was definitely hacking and admitted as much. I also have a video of the match on theater mode.

Ok thanks for the answer. I was concerned that many of them were obvious hackers, some of them are legit. So I was starting to thing those guys were a clan or something :P

This must be some kind of joke. This guy still has no VAC ban.
