Why are so many people playing this game named that?

They have too short names.

Because either :
1)They put in characters the game doesn't recognize as a name.
2)They left their name blank.
Or
3)They have an illegal copy of the game and are cheating.

1) they have names shorter than 4 characters
2) the game cannot recognize the characters of their names like 啊ش.و , etc

Theres a player by the name DOC whos name shows up in lobby but not in game (Unknown Soldier 3 or 4). I figured he was a hack/pirater but now I know its just a flaw in the game. Thanks for the info

Ive seen where In game it say`s unknown...... then In lobby It say`s name....... One examp... is guy named "No"

You can but involves modding your steam installation files which will certainly, if caught, will net you a ban, that is why you see some people who just don't give a $%^t use full on aimbot by standing in the middle of the map and hold down the fire button. A good example is Th@tGirl from COD:Ghost whoever it was just continued to hack the whole system and they couldn't get rid of him/her.

yeah for some reason its a glitch as said. because they have less then 4 characters in the lobby it shows there name but when the match starts it does not recognize it so it switches it to unknown soldier #
