question about downloading

i just got this game, do i need to download the base black ops 2 game to play multiplayer? or i can just download the multiplayer download

You can just download multiplayer. However some people have issues with the game if they don't download everything.

It works like this:

• Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Campaign)
  
• Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Multiplayer (Multiplayer)
  
• Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Zombies (Zombies)

You can chose what main modes you want to download. If you just want Multiplayer, then download Multiplayer.

no sorry this isn't true. I downloaded multiplayer and it said i still need base black ops download (11gb)

Not for me. I don't have the Black Ops II Campaign installed and I can play Multiplayer just fine.

yeah all i downloaded was the multiplayer and it works fine for me too.

I played multiplayer for a year before I decided to download the campaign mode. Then, once I started downloading campaign, I paused it and was unable to play multiplayer until I finished downloading and installing campaign mode. Forget what the error was, but it was annoying.

It must have auto-started campaign for me and when i paused it i still needed the rest of for multiplayer :/
