Is the Game Playable in 2025?
Should I return to the game or are the hackers still occupying the servers?

I was wondering this exact thing. Following thread.
Its very risky to play online multiplayer, there are a few specific players who frequently use exploits in the game engine to RAT your system. I would stick to zombies and offline multiplayer for your own safety. Activision is definitely not going to fix it
I've been playing vanilla multiplayer just fine these later days. Only problem is that servers are kinda weak and you get disconnected from matches frequently but not always, so I'd say it's worth a try.

I play hardcore tdm every day for over a month. You get disconnected almost always at the beginning of the round, just reconnect and u are good to go. There are few cheaters in core and 0 cheaters in hardcore (personal opinion, others think there are more cheaters, few people even blame me for cheating).

speaking of hardcore, not many people play it. You are guaranteed to have 1-2 tdm servers in the evening (europe/russia time zones), but if you are from US then you are lucky cause sometimes there is even hardcore ctf server available in US evening time.

If you prefer core then you might wanna check Plutonium. There are 5 times more players, but they all play core for some reason. Theres built in anticheat.

It is NOT worth the risk. RAT's everywhere man.
i've had the game since 2020 and have never been ratted so idk i'd say it's safe

I actually always find a full lobby no matter what time it is without any hackers. Started again 2 days ago and was blown away how playable it was, it was perfect if I can say so. (always 20-30 Ping from Germany)

The playercount often says 0/0 in for example TDM but 90% of the time I click search and found a lobby in less than 10 seconds its actually insane and it makes me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ happy

YES, it is full of hackers, I have already been hacked twice when playing TDM without VPN protection. They got into my account and started sending messages to everyone, they spent the little money I had in my account and entered my PC BIOS to do something.
So be careful when playing this cod, unfortunately it is the best cod but it is full of hackers

absolutely do NOT play any black ops version under 6 bo1, 2, 3, 4, AND 5 are NOT AT ALL safe to play on pc and possibly xbox i reccomend plutonium the reason is people using programs to put gore, porn, shock vids etc. streamers have gotten banned for being ratted because rce or remote code execution is very VERY powerful if you have the right tools so play with the malware bytes anticheat on or use plutonium. play safe 👍
Download Plutonium and rank up/prestige with bots. Just Google it. There are plenty of YouTube vids on the install and controls. I played a ton of Blops 2 on Xbox 360 back in high school. Now when I get the itch, I boot up Plutonium. If you want to count your in-game hours, launch and minimize the game in Steam, then launch Plutonium. Shouldn't be very resource intensive.
