in a good players hand they are very effective, but that player will also kill you with any other weapon.
in a bad players hand they sometimes get lucky kills at close range due to the really big crosshair, but nothing to be afraid of.
the average precision for the average player with a sniper is somewhere down at 30-35%. if it takes them 3 shots to get you, you might aswell kill them with a pistol
I'd say they're close to balanced. I'd like to see some of the body multipliers scaled down so that rubbish sniping isn't rewarded as well as it is currently. Even the ballista could do with removing a few of the 2x multipliers. Especially the xpr needs a ton of multipliers removed. It's ridiculous how an auto-sniper can have the same miltipliers as a bolt action, with the same ads time. But then again, old game, nothing will be done with it now, and with smgs being as retarded as they are, I wouldn't mind snipers being totally op as well.
That's why trickshotting should only be done on consoles, because it relies on aim-assist. It also relies on a huge luck factor though, even with aim assist, that's why it's still stupid to do in my opinion.
There is no aim assist on PC by the way, because you would only be handicapping yourself. This is because the movements of the aim-assist would be fighting with the movements of yourself. This is different on consoles, because controllers are far less precise.
A sniper rifle should NEVER have a chance to beat assault rifle or pistol or shotgun or anything else at short/medium range. Quickscoping should totally be removed and sniper rifles should do what they are meant to do.
Plus "trickshooting" is dumb and ´tarded. Especially when those kids are in your team and you are losing ´cause of them dying.
Should a pistol beat an smg at close range?
Nope. But chance is high. Depends on who starts shooting first.
Except for Executioner. A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shotgun pistol. You dont even need to aim cause its a spray.
it's not about the weapon itself, it's about the people using it.
you technically can't design a weapon that is easy to use for beginner, but doesn't suit a better player. there are extremely good players who could just randomly pick any weapon in the game and beat an army of beginners with any other random weapon. the level of skill varies so much (especially on pc) that there can't be 100% fair attributes in every weapon.
i've killed snipers with a pistol and long range and vice versa at short range. if a weapon seems OP to someone, that's because of the player using it.
of course some of the weapons in the game are easier to use. hey, beginners need a chance aswell. and of course more advanced players take this knowledge to their advantage. that's how a game works, that's how to play.
By the way, at the time when I bought BOII, first weapon which I used after unlocking create-a-class was the DSR-50 without toughness. Guess what? I had 1.75 K/D with it aftet two hours.
I was a complete noob then, if we dont count skills from previous CODs.
it is lie to say this game has none cheater. but at leeast we still have the stuffs from 3arch that still doing ban on those loser. unlike IW cod that completely let cheaters run around do what they want.
finally if you think quick scope in bo2 is the worse believe me it not even half of CS that the sniper with armor not get any aim punch when get shot. even you hit them first you still be a death man because their quick scope will kill you with only 1 shot on any part of your body except your foot. and yes....CS maps always filling with choke points and camp sites.
