Black Ops 2 Single Player crashes on startup
When I launch the BO2, I get the "Unhandled exception caught" error. Does anyone know how to fix it?
I've tried:
- Re-installing the game.
- Verifying the content
- Running with Windows 7 and 8 compatability mode
- Running as administrator on both the exe and Steam
- Changed some settings in Properties, like disabling full-screen optimisations
And mostly everything else, you'll find on youtube, is there a way to actually play the game?

try updating DirectX and vcredist_x86 from where the game is installed on disk. you can check the video below to see how.

I have the same error when my audio interface is plugged in. When I start the game with it unplugged, it works fine. Try unplugging any extra devices you have?

New here. I just had this problem on the first time I played the game (today). Locked my comp up to where I had to manually shut down/restart. Now when I play, my frame rate is under 8. It runs back up to 50+ depending which way my character is looking. Are frame rate problems also associated with this issue?

BTW, MSI core I7 2.6Ghz, 16Gb RAM,64-bit OS Win10, Nvidia GeForce RTX2060

Please speak in layman's terms. I understand computers, just don't do many of the things y'all do to play in multiplayer and such. I play solo. I don't use overclock software or any crazy stuff like that. Just want to have fun blowing stuff up.

I followed the video. Everything went well up to going in to Steam/Local files. I verified install and got an error that 1 file was wrong or missing or something and would be reacquired. Didn't give me an option to do anything else. That video doesn't go into this territory. Anything else?

did you also verify integrity of game files on steam? what you've written actually reminded me of that, rather than what's shown in the video. if you already did that method but still couldn't resolve the problem, then the only other thing I can suggest is maybe closing certain background applications which may be conflicting with black ops 2. it's reported that in-game monitoring software such as MSI Afterburner, NZXT CAM, Nvidia Shadowplay etc. may cause this error for some players.

I actually did finally figure how to verify the install and it had an error. So I uninstalled and retried installation. Seemed to work fine after that. reverified integrity and it was gtg. Thanks for the advice!

if you still have this problem the quickest solution is to close any audio software like SONIC STUDIO. That's all.
