RCE still an issue in multiplayer?
I'm a first time user of Black Ops 2 and recently got Plutonium for the server browser. However I've noticed on various threads in Reddit and here that this game has a remote code execution exploit.

If this is the case, why is the game still being advertised? Wouldn't it be against Valve's ToS to promote the sale of a game with known RCE exploits?

It still is. If you don't want some asswipe fiddle with your machine.... better stay away from it for the time being. But... seeing as how activision clearly doesn't give a single squat... best to forget about it. Or move to consoles.

Can you elaborate on this further? As in confirmation? I want to send these findings to Valve/Activision so they can patch it ASAP.

Sounds like it would be just illegal to ignore the issue. It's a major security flaw and probably against Steam's ToS to knowingly distribute a program with RCE exploits.

It's already been sent to them several times (to Activision at least, not sure if anyone's spoken directly to anyone on the Steam team about it) and nothing happened. It's the same on most other COD games on PC too (I know for sure it happens on MW2 as well), and I'm sure some guys from those games' communities tried the same thing and got nowhere.

Activision themselves won't do anything, hell, the guy they had on twitter banning people from this game abandoned that ages ago; I'm not even sure if Steam themselves can do anything about the game themselves. I don't usually believe in the whole 'Activision purposely screw over old CODs so you buy the new ones' conspiracy but sometimes it is pretty realistic

activision released an update in 2019 that patched the exploit in mw2 but hackers found a way around, meaning the games still not safe to play. if you do want to play mw2 you would have to install ♥♥♥♥ (i really enjoy ♥♥♥♥ and id recommend it)
edit: for some reason it covers the clients name so just look up "x labs mw2 client" and it should pop up

even if it doesnt have a trojan it runs like garbage
regular bo2 runs fine but whenever i tried pluto it used 100% cpu every single time

servers are also boring, if you don't like ground war matches that last for 20 mins or trickshot servers then you're out of luck - tbf i dont even play cod at all anymore so i might be biased but still

not sure why everyone comes to this dead forum to shill plutonium but it sucks

I'm getting 200 fps on trash hardware... And the servers I can join are really fun, granted these are zombies maps.

plutonium runs fine for me. either way tho i rather play it safe then sorry. not trying to get rce'd on steam version of bo2

I'll speak for it. Theres no publicly released RCEs on this CoD like MW2. The few people who have access it barely even play anymore. While your chances of getting RCEd on here are low ur still better off playing plutonium cause ur still going to find tons of aimbotters on the steam version.
