- you can try installing DirectX and vcredist, from where BO2 is installed on your disk. this one is probably the most common fix. you can check the video below to see how it's done.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTHCEmH8vlA
- if you run any in-game monitoring programs, you can close them, then start the game again to see if the error is due to conflict. known apps that occasionally cause issues in BO2 for some people are; MSI Afterburner w/RTSS, Nvidia Shadowplay, NZXT CAM, Fraps etc.
- you should verify integrity of game files on steam. this might be the solution if the error happens due to some missing or corrupt files. to do that, right click at BO2 multiplayer on steam library and select "properties", then go to "local files" section on the little window, and hit "verify integrity of game files". wait until the process is complete and try playing the game again. if you experience same error with other portions of BO2, you should repeat the same process for their steam library entries as well.
- if you have a special program active for your sound device (such as a headset utility), you can temporarily disable it. some players may have troubles in BO2 when it comes to playing with various headsets. besides, if you use a Razer product while its utility runs on background, you might disable the software for testing purpose. some of those things (synapse, cortex, chroma) could conflict with CoD titles, such as Black Ops 1-2-3.
- in rare cases, I believe this trouble can also occur because of anti-virus intervention. apparently, certain CoD games don't really like anti-virus programs like Avast, AVG and Bitdefender. if you use any of these, you can try putting the .exe files of Black Ops 2 (or maybe even the entire install folder), onto exclusion list of your anti-virus.
hope this helps.
Much obliged, mate. I'll try these right now!
