Windows 10 64-bit incompatible
Hello, a couple of months ago I've purchased a gaming laptop that came with windows 10 (I wasn't too happy about it myself).

And I've come to notice, Call of Duty: Black Ops II is not quite compatible with Windows 10.

Whenever I launch the game, it'll instantly crash and close down, and it'll open the Black Ops II console displaying the message "Unhandled Exception caught", I've tried running several different compatibility modes, even run it as administrator, and unfortunately nothing works, sometimes I'll have to launch the game up to 25 times (Not literally) before it'll open up without problems. All my drivers are up to date, the laptop has far above the minimum specs to run it.

I've tried checking the integrity of the files, they all match, DirectX versions up to date, visual C++ aswell (may not be related but still helps), and all other relevant drivers up to date, I cannot find a fix anywhere on the internet.

Also alot of times during gameplay the game crashes for the same related issue, I've only read topics about this issue when it was still in TR (TechReview) and the only solution mention was go back to Windows 7 (which is not an option for me because I have no previous version).

Does anyone know how I can fix this issue, or any workaround to make it compatible?

Please let me know.

Kind Regards.

No problems on windows 10 myself, a friend of mine has the same problem on a laptop. He has a msi laptop with a 960m and i7 6700hq. It works on pc but not on laptop?

Coincidently enough, I've got an MSI laptop myself with Intel(R) Cote(TM) i5-4210H, 4CPU 2,9GHz, nVidia 940M.

But only my laptop has the issue, my PC at home for instance does not (I'm most of the time absent from home), so maybe it's just MSI which has the problem?

Yes @Stick Fingers, like mentioned my post, all relevant drivers are up to date.

I'm having this trouble through any update I've had so far, and I haven't yet found out why this is happening to me.

Here are my specs:

Windows 10 Home 64 bits, (10.0, build 14393)
Systemfabricant: Micro-Star InternationaL Co., LTD
Systemmodel: GP72 2QD
BIOS: E1793IMS.10E
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4210H CPU @ 2.90GHz (4 CPUs), ~2,9GHz
RAM: 8192MB
Cache: 2907MB Used, 6486MB available.
DirectX-Version: DirectX 12.

GPU: nVidia GeForce 940M

I have no clue where else, except for checking integrity being alright, updating drivers and whatnot I could do, tried them all, nothing has worked so far :(

Check your laptop at http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri (canirunit dot com if the link disappears. Before I built this pc, I checked that site before I bought any game.

I'm pretty sure this laptop can run this game, it's just that during the startup it crashes because something went wrong, I've played this game on a computer with even weaker specs than this one. It just really annoys me that I have to restart the game like 15 times because of "unhandled expection caught" which is pretty sure something up with the DirectX12 being incompatible

Try disabling Steam Overlay

Normally laptops can't handle games as well in general, that being said, BO2 is a funky game. Try reverifying the game files. I've had the unhandled error exception on my Desktop. It's possible that it's just bugging out. I've noticed this only happens on windows 10 and i've never experienced crashes on win7

I agree, laptops aren't as good as Desktop computers, however I'm sure a 945 euro laptop is designed to be able to play older games such as Black Ops II.
I've rechecked the integrity of the files, nothing special happens, they all match to current.

I've disabled the Steam Overlay, but nothing has changed unfortunately, nice idea though!
