sound like you may have a driver missing or old one runing?
it's good you have the latest vedeo card drivers and sound and so on but what about windows?
my laptop clevo D900F I7 950, Ram 12gig, Realtek HD, 2X 750 HB hard drives and 512 SSD, GTX 480M 2gig video but i am runing 310.70 and not 310.07 thats out of date.
in the past i have foud it sometimes a sound or windoes driver to be the problem.

OS is windows 7 64 bit. Up to date on service pack one. No drivers missing.
