Your post made me lol at the end, but I agree with everything you said. I think most people here agree that American Nightmare was just a spin-off. Not as good as the original, but still pretty enjoyable.
And yes, I think "Fight Til Dawn" was awesome. Wish they'da made it muliplayer though, and let me have my favorite weapons on each map!
Sure, the main game was better, but making it a bit more max payne wasn't exactly a horrible idea.
You just had to know what you were getting into. I already knew it was different to the main game. I knew it was more action than tension.
I paid full price for it on release, which was around £12 if I remember right. And I don't regret it at all.
I was pissed that they just repeated the same levels again and again, and didn't hide it very well. But the idea that Max... I mean Alan.... was stuck, doomed to keep repeating things until he got it right was pretty fun. I liked that idea as a mechanic for the story. I just didn't like that they only did it as a way to save time, effort and money making more environments.
Still a fun addition to the Alan Wake franchise. Just a bit different than the main game is all.
Not a problem if you knew about the change in gameplay beforehand. I can fully understand people being very pissed off if they didn't know and had expected more of the same.
What? Did you play the game muted or something?
Having an opinion does not make someone a troll
Jesus Christ.
He even made a little numbered list of things he likes, how can he possibly make it any simpler for you?
OP is an idiot
The live movies mixed in... I didn't care for the psychopath blathering chatter.
In the first one, the movies added to the story you were playing - fleshing out details your character had forgotten about writing the story to change reality. This one only had a nut job running around murdering people. I didn't get any impression of value-add to the story from his chatter and just murdering folks.
The weapons - only the 1 flashlight and it seemed pretty powerful compared to the first game and it rechared really fast. It also didnt' seem to bother them in normal use vs how the first one would show melting effects without focusing.
Understandable when you get that crossbow which ignores shadow to kill stuff fairly early - without pages to open it. Without burning shadow off fast, no other weapon would be considered worth using but even still ... Once I picked up that crossbow, I never used another weapon in that slot - that was a waste of time.
That magnum was extremely powerful for a handgun and packing 8 rounds? ... So once I got that, I stayed with it too though short bursts with the submachine gun would get the job done, same with the nail gun.... It took stuff out much better.
The limits on flares was annoying as well as how gimp flashbangs were. I pretty close to stopped using flashbangs after a bit. Against many opponents they just didn't work very well against whereas the crossbow and a quick focused light would take them out.
Again - not really great but it was OK.
Oh and one thing this did highlight for me: Across both the original and this one -- only "the big boss" and the one partially infected woman were female infected. All Taken are guys across it. That kind of amused me.
