Alan Wake's American Nightmare

The Crossbow
Yes the Crossbow is an overpowered weapon you don't need to use as much power from the flashlight for this thing to insta kill the taken, playing this on nightmare and getting the crossbow makes the game way to easy, you don't really need to use the light because it almost every single time insta kills enemies covered in darkness, i'm not entirely sure of that since i only just flash every single one with a small dose of light before pulling the trigger of that bow which still kills said taken covered in said darkness.

Indeed, the crossbow ignores any enemy protection, you don't need to use the flashlight against Takens before being able to kill them. The crossbow will one shoot most of them except the big guys who need 2+ shots.

I'm really hoping they don't have the overpowered weapons and such in the true sequel (when/if it comes out), or at least that they don't give you an excess of ammo like they did in parts of the original and American Nightmare. Some parts would've been a whole lot more thrilling if you didn't feel like a one-man army!

i think that's what kind of ruined it was how he wrote himself into a horror novel yet he somehow wrote"the warrior of light carried a sh!t ton of ammo and occasionally came across ammo dumps" in which case i felt conflicted with him explaining in american nightmare about how he couldn't give himself super powers because it cause some type of collapse and ruin the story, yet a sh!t ton of ammo that respawns every "two?" minutes doesn't ruin it?, once you get the crossbow almost every other item or weapon becomes useless because the player either will use the crossbow or might use it on the occasion.

Well, do keep in mind that American Nightmare is a spin-off, not a sequel. None of what happens in American Nightmare is necessarily something that has/will happen in the official storyline, as indicated in the last few lines when you beat the game; it's just something thrown together by the same people to give fans a little something extra.

That being said, even the original game has a few infinite supplies of ammo and equipment inexplicably left in Alan's path. But it is actually explained later in the game that Cynthia Weaver left some of it laying around on purpose, for Alan or anyone else who may need to defend themselves against the Taken. It also can be reasoned that maybe Thomas Zane left the rest in Alan's path to aid him, because he had the manuscript pages and maybe could figure out roughly where Alan would be and when.
