At this point it's a chicken and DRM-ridden egg issue, I think, but to see if it's alive or not you can check it's heart rate monitor here:

I think the best bet is a Demigod 2 built for Steam, but that's not likely to ever happen.

Such a shame that this game never got the attention it deserved post release, but I guess looking at how GPG ended up in the last year or so answers why it could never have been... but 1-2 years of solid content adding updates to this could have made it an epic game on many more radars than it got on.

It would be awesome...

If it wasnt for the fact of them never releasing updates or content within a year after release, and the game seems to have very little variety. Though it did have one of the most original designs for moba, which bloodline champions did, and did more than demigod. The devs were really active when I played it, and it was upsetting after they just stopped caring. When it first came out the network problems and ping limit really made multiplayer useless, and easily lost a huge fanbase.

A reworked steam version with improved matchmaking and netcode would be great. As is let it die...

This game had too many server problems when it was released.. lags and disconnect.. and really bad class balance..
but it would have had its potential.. sadly there was nearly no bugfixing..

all this game needs is some popularity. I was able to play it all day yesterday before i crapped itself and now is full of bugs and cant even start the game. but while i was playing it was very enjoyable. i am a diamond league of legends player and i thought that league could learn so much from demigod! It would be awesome to get a twitch streamer to play some demigod and bring attention to it.

hello, i would buy it but just because of multiplayer. SO is ther multiplayer or no?

This game had so much potential but was so bugged on release. I remember the headaches I had trying to play. There were days I couldn't play at all. I am 110% sure if the game was released without those bugs this would be up there with dota 2 and LoL.

Too bad there wasn't a kickstarter for Demigods 2... I've got 104 games in my STEAM library and most of those sit on the shelf but not Demigod. It's an unsung classic that'll never collect dust.

yeh fn right... You think Stardock would release the rights to Demigod for kickstarter.. ? It took them forever to release Demigod on steam because they were so greedy to make money on their online game platform, I forgot the name of the platform. I say they were very greedy because they didn't have any big title that would bring people in, like how Electronic Arts has Battlefield to bring people to Origin. Whoever was managing there failed. They released a video apologizing for the state of the game on release. I have to say when I watched the video, I didn't think they took the apology seriously.

I must admit I passed as well. It's abandonware, completely unsupported and not really suited for Steam in the first place because of the extra layer of DRM.

If they do Demigod 2, though, I'm all over it. It was a superb idea, just stumbled on the execution.
