Nevertheless I'm happy to wait and see what develops; not like there isn't plenty of other gaming to keep me entertained for the forseeable future.
It's not like I personally have a problem with Steam...I don't! But GalCiv2 didn't exist on Steam when I got it and the expansions, and so why should I buy it again...just because Stardock had financial issues and decided to sell off Impulse? Not my problem, but making classic customers happy is definitely their problem.
Hey, perhaps Brad could gift us complimentary Steam keys for those Impulse games we still have on our old Stardock accounts?

I can't link directly to the actual post but there is a reply from two Stardock employees stating the version available on their store will be updated within a week.
Tried it and ..bingo! I now have Galciv 2 on steam....thanks stardock.
Thanks for everyone's assistance and kudos to Stardock for continuing to support this awesome title.
If I ever feel like playing it without Steam, I can always use the standalone installers (which I managed to snag from my product page a few weeks ago, before they were replaced by my Steam key!), then use the Community Update version of the patch.
