Triumphs?
I'm getting incredibly confused by Triumphs. From what I can tell, once I move on to the next Act, I'm no longer allowed to start building a Triumph from the previous Act - If someone could correct me if I am wrong and there's something immensely obvious I'm missing, that would be great.

However, through multiple games and not being able to build e.g. the Library of Celsus or Great Lighthouse despite having an empty region that meets the requirements and all the crafted materials necessary, it does not show up as an option.

Is it true that you can get "locked out" of building one when your technology advances?

If so, I almost feel highly incentivised to actively murder my research output and have the worst technology of any nation. My normal playstyle in many 4X games like this is to get absolute tunnel vision for the wonders I want, so this would be disappointing.

Unless there's a way to decide not to advance even though your technology is ready to move to the next act?

I can't actually remember if they were removed between acts but honestly, don't worry about it. Other civs barely construct triumphs so you can build pretty much whatever you want so long as you're working towards them consistently. Any in-progress triumphs will NOT get wiped between acts so you have a big window guarantee you get them. You WILL lose any associated goals between acts though!

And do note that you cannot prevent an act transition. Once three civs reach that point an automatic countdown starts.

I have not had any issues building the light house once I have the materials. You sure you are producing the right goods to craft these triumphs?

Yes, it's not the materials. If you don't have the materials they still show up in the list, but they seem to disappear from the list between ages - to the point where I could not build it because I was too technologically advanced, but the ai could because they had weaker technology .

That's how it felt, I can't be sure if this is actually how it works because it doesn't seem to be documented anywhere that this happens, but I can't think of any other explanation, I've spent the day reloading saves to try and produce enough books to build the library of celsus, but still couldn't before I progressed to the next age.

There are some items that become obsolete when you advance in tech, and which don't say so ANYWHERE in the game. You can't craft Feasts once you reach the act 2 eras for example. And you won't even get an "idle crafter" notification for your gathering halls.

They're removed at the end of an Act.

Yes, indeed. The Germans just started Hanging Gardens in my current game, but all nations are already in Act 2. Is this a bug or intended advantage of the AI?

Thanks for the report on this. I will bring it up to the team.

Triumphs in general do not become obsolete or unbuildable at the end of the Act. Rather, Triumphs sometimes simply disappear from the project selection interface due to a bug. In fact, random regular buildings sometimes do as well. Reloading fixes it.

There are things that do go obsolete, but not many. And there's an UI element in the tech menu for letting you know when something goes obsolete, but the ONLY item that actually uses said UI element is the Stone Pit(which even goes obsolete from two different techs).

Thanks for the clarification. At the moment I sabotage my research on purpose to be able to build triumphs.
