Removal of DLC or What .dat goes to what.

I made a list of (almost) all the DLC and what .dat file goes to it. I did this so that people can remove the DLC is they want to and play a "normal" game.

Please correct me if I am wrong about the Story DLC (either missing or not Story).

To remove the DLC wither delete or move (I prefer move) the .dat file located in the main Sleeping Dogs directory.

I found you can still play fine with Steam in on-line mode and it won't download the DLC, but if you verify the game cache, it will be replaced.

Not all DLC can be removed. I can't find the files for one of the DLC (can't remember the name).

Thank you and I hope this helps someone. I know I was shocked to get level 8 as soon as the first area was finished and felt a bit disappointed by it.

Teach me not to read all 20+ DLC descriptions. :-P

I will not be buying any non-Story DLC form here on, so the list may be incompleat. If you know what .dat goes to a new DLC, please post it so I can add it to the list.

With any luck, this may get a sticky to others can find it easier.

Since Steam now has the option to install the DLC or not, this has become rather pointless. I'll leave it locked and unpin it.

Last try to let this be helpfull. If it falls off the first page again, it is lost for ever. :-P Hope this helped atleast one person. Took me an hour of removing and replaceing .dat files (along with restaring the game) to figure out.

yes i agree this should be in a wiki too.. this is the most helpful thing ive found ever
some arent correct but.. most match

and some are missing as he said
as some are integrated not just dat files

id like to thank you poster.

now do you know if you can re add the dlc later in the game say near middle to end ? by placing the dats back and verifying cache? im hoping so .. if so thats the easiest way to fix the dlc we dont want at first.. and what we do want.

i do want them all just not like .. right out of the gate! hiiii im max lvl with 2 hours of play! lol

You should be able to add them back by just moving the .dat folder back into the directory. That is how I tested them. Moved them all out, then back, one at a time, relaunching the game and looking in the DLC to see what was added.

well again, im still not seeing the gun or the sword, and a few of the cars and bike from the movie pack.

I have the cop cars .. no suits of the police though.. and no gun or sword.. just odd
this is after full reinstall.

and even tried starting the game over.. still didnt work
no blue shiny gun and no sword.

im stumped

so odd.. ive tried many loads.. wait that sounded wrong.. uh

ill try doing a side mission and seeing what the safe house brings..
but for now wontons are ready..

it only show up in boat safe house...
anyways deleting dlc files help???

deleting them just removes them so far..

reinstalled..
started new game ..
took out the dat files..
put back in the dat files
verified..
still nothing in the safe house
