I have a question about a paradox...
To build both the refinery and the mine I need minerals but they are obtained from the refinery.....so how do you solve it?

There should be a starting patch of minerals on the ground, it looks like a square of glass-looking minerals on the ocean floor. You can mine enough to get yourself started to make a small drill. Once the drill is depleted, you can just delete it to get a refund of build materials and build a new one.

Can also find the minerals on some traders

I must be missing something? how do you get to pick up the minerals on the ground? i see no way to get close to the ocean floor to pick stuff up

Ah ok, got it, you have to build a submarine to be able to pick stuff up off the ocean floor
