Farm + Sprinkler Design

Hi all,

How do you design an efficient farming area with sprinkers? It seems you need a 3x3 plot with free area around the edges. To this block seems to be wasteful in terms of space.

Any thoughts of farm design would be appreciated.

I use a 3 wide, by 3, by 3. A square of farms and I put the sprinkler in the middle. Parrots fill it with water since no one else can reach it. Setters do occasionally get in there sometimes to deliver water I guess but get unstuck after awhile. Some farm arrangements I put a crane surrounded by farms except for one storage box. The box is fed water by a pipe from the pumps and the other storage slots have the most used farm produce. I have one for coffee and one for wheat/sugarcane/cocoa.

Does this work from a space efficiency set up. Wouldn't you actually need a 5x5 template to service a 3x3 template (for access)?

Or maybe I am misunderstanding placement rules.
