Bomb Challenge Glitch
It seems that there's a glitch which prevents from completing bomb challenges 100%. It's impossible to create a bomb with every shell type and every effect. Is there a workaround?

Hey there community,

Just leaving this here as none of the above solutions worked for me (in fact nothing on the entire internet worked). Managed to get it done today myself and kept tracked of exactly what I did. As follows:

FOR SHELL TYPES

1) Go to Sequence 3, Memory 5
2) Use an outside crafting table (I used the closest one to Piri Reis' shop)
3) Dismantle all bombs that you may have (use "space bar" on PC and not your "Enter" key)
4) Start crafting shell types in the sequence that they show up (left to right) ie, Impact, Fuse, Tripwire, Sticky (also I used Arabic gunpowder and Shrapnel on my lethal pouch because that's what you get when you open the table)
5) Craft only 2 bombs at the table before exiting (the 1st one where you choose each ingredient manually by pressing "enter" on each ingredient and the 2nd with the add bomb button)
6) Exit the crafting table
7) Take one step away from the table
8) Bring up your weapon wheel (press and hold "Q") and only click on the bomb that you crafted without actually quick crafting it yet.

OK SO HERE'S THE TRICKY PART AND THE PART THAT SEEMED TO MAKE IT WORK FOR ME

9) Press and hold "Q" and quickly press "Space bar" to quick craft only 1 more bomb (You have to do this very fast without the weapon wheel showing at all). You'll now have 3 of the same bomb
10) Open the crafting table and repeat steps 3 to 9 making sure to dismantle the bombs with "space bar" and not modify the bombs with "Enter". Also I stuck with the Arabic gunpowder and Shrapnel for all the shell types.

FOR EFFECT TYPES

1) Go to Sequence 3, Memory 5
2) Use an outside crafting table (I used the closest one to Piri Reis' shop)
3) Dismantle all bombs that you may have (use "space bar" on PC and not your "Enter" key)
4) Start crafting EFFECT types in the sequence that they show up (left to right and lethal to diversion. Also I used Arabic gunpowder and Impact shell because that's what you get when you open the table)

I'm really not sure if all of the above steps are necessary. I do however know that when I did not quick craft the way that I mentioned above, I did not get it completed. So I'm pretty sure that's needed. Also I think the dismantling part of the crafting is also very important instead of modifying.

Another thing that I noticed is that when I was making the bombs this way, after quick crafting some of them I'd get a note that would pop up on the left side of my screen explaining the bomb effect that I just crafted. Essentially indicating to me that these bombs were never ever "crafted" or come across according to the game. (The two bombs that I do remember were the Lamb's blood and the Pyrite coins)
Thank you!

You can get around it by crafting each bomb type/effect not only at crafting tables, but in quick crafting mode too once or twice (you can quick craft bombs in your inventory by selecting the bomb on the weapon wheel, and while still on the wheel, pressing A, or space if you're on a keyboard, I think).

I've tried every possible way and combination, eventially completed bomb effect types.
Can't complete "craft a bomb with every shell type". Have you completed it?
bananasloth Jan 31, 2014 @ 10:36am
Yes, I've completed it in the way I described above. First I crafted one of each combination at a crafting table (which did not give me the challenge), then used the quick crafting feaute from the weapon wheel, and got the challenge.

This also caused me problems but eventually I got it.

I think what helped me was that I also read that it's not just as simple as going to a crafting table and just going through each type & effect. You have to make sure you exit the crafting table as well with each type after you have crafted each one. So make your first set of bombs and then exit. Go back in, repeat and hopefully this will sort you. I think I crafted 1 of each, exited the crafting table and then, just to be extra sure it registered, I did the quick crafting of each bomb as described by bananasloth.

I have completed the challenge the requires making bombs of each type.
The one I can't accomplish is about shell types.

I last played this around November 2013 and I managed to get 100% across everything. But looking at a previous game save I only completed 9/10 bomb challenges. The one I had missing then (and the one I was refering to in my earlier post) was 'Craft one bomb with each effect type' which you mention you already have.

All I can say is reading on google there does seem to be a glitch on the bomb challenges and a possible fix involving reverting to an earlier patch of the game. But I never did any of that, I was just running the latest Steam version as of November 2013. It may be that the challenge doesn't always glitch and either I have been lucky or you unlucky.

One other thought - have you completed the Piri Reis missions as I think they unlock shells/effects.

My problem is solved by verifing integrity of game files. 8 files turned to be corrupted.

I still can't get the effect one, it's really frustrating since I've nearly 100% the file and I'd hate to make a new one just for the chance.

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but I have finally found out how to fix this crap.

If you are already a bit in the story, quick-crafting won't help. You have to replay Sequence 3, Memory 4 or onwards (from the DNA menu, naturally) and craft/quick-craft the bombs there - it will then count towards the challenge.

There's some kind of bug where progressing into the storyline locks the challenge out, but it actually works earlier in the game.

Just wanted to say thanks for that little tip. I've just started the game, and am right at the point you mention. So I simply went ahead and made all shell types, then all effect types. Got both challenges, so thank you!

Hello Guys!

Sorry for reactivate this thread. I have tried now for hours and searched for answers for this. I could not find anything that might helps me. I also tried the method mentioned to go back in the DNA. Nothing works. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Someone an idea what i am doing wrong?

If anyone else is still trying to get this done, here's how I did it today:
For the "each of effect types":
1. Dismantle all the bombs.
2. Craft one bomb in "lethal" pouch, use any shell and powder, select any type of effect (e.g. shapnel)
3. Leave the crafting table
4. Use the bomb (just throw it anywhere you like)
5. Open weapons wheel
6. Highlight the 0 bombs that you should have
7. Press the displayed button (X for PS4 controller, A for xbox) to craft another one. You can be anywhere to craft, not necessarily near the crafting table.
8. Do steps from 5 to 7 several times (craft 2-3 bombs), each time exit weapon wheel and change weapon to another one with shortcut.
9. Return to the crafting table.
10. Dismantle all the bombs.
11. Craft another bomb in the same pouch but with different effect.
12. Return to step 3
Do this until you're out of effects in one pouch. Then dismantle everything and start another pouch. Not sure, but it seems to be the key to have only one type of bombs on you.
Do the same for shell types. It worked for me.

This worked perfectly for me, thanks a lot!

I tried this method, and it does not appear to work anymore. I've tried for several hours now just to get this one achievement using the methods I have found, and none of them work. My only choices are to revert to a previous version of the game, or give up.

I don't think the game has updated since then, so it should work. I was also trying different things for the same amount of time, but when I metodically did this, it worked. Try exiting the game, doing something in between crafting etc. I had finished the story before I did this, BTW, so no travelling back in DNA was involved.
