Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Does or will this game have a third-person option?
'Floaty gun cam' doesn't do it for me -- it's like having your face sutured to the barrel of a firearm. Does this series have a third-person play perspective option?

Why are ppl so nasty to those who would like the choice of being able to play in third person??? Did it never occur to you that we would like to be able to play the action games that are being released basically this is just the producers being biased against those who can not play a game in first person I myself am unable to do due to the way the camera motion makes my feel sick. So please those ppl who comment say go play something else think if all the good action games came out in third person???? Would you not politely ask if there was the option to revert it to First person without being verbally attacked by those who say well I am ok with that so go forth and multiply. It cost nothing to be nice to your fellow man or woman for that matter.
I'm just curious why people want a 3rd person view... I dunno about you, but when I go to shoot my guns, I can't pull my eye balls out of my skull and float them above my shoulder. Though I guess if I could do that, it'd be an interesting day at the range? Also might need some serious vizine investment...

But yeah, its advertised as an FPS and the series has always been FPS (not to mention its considered to be the first if not one of the first FPS games ever.)
Since you are not at the range Frosty but in a make believe world it would be nice for game to cater to the wider clientelle. And if you read my post you would notice I gave a reason for wanting third person view. Also last time I checked when looks at others I don't just see to floating arms and nothing else lol
There's no reason for a 3rd person view. This game was made entirely to be played in first person like every other wolfenstein and id game.

Also if you are so concerned about the gun being too close to your face then change the fov.
I did not say the gun was to near my face please read my first comment I said in fps I become to have a motion sickness from the game. All I was suggesting that we have both options available. We do have the technology we can rebuild it Spock geez some ppl really need to take a chill pill. What does it matter to anyone if games come out with both view incorporated all this does is mean more ppl buy the damn game surely that is a good thing for all concerned.

You do not realize that FPS and TPS are two different things. It's not usual to make an TPS FPS game of one game. Also, like people have already said to you. Incase you didn't know, Wolenstein started whole FPS genre and has never been TPS. I see no reason to convert Wolfenstein to TPS.

We don't live in a world full of TPS. There is FPS and there is TPS, if you cannot play this game then play something else.
First person and Third person games play very differently when the developers focus properly. In this case, third person would be very detrimental to the gameplay due to sight lines, cover being supposed to block your view (and being able to be cut through to make better views, etc) and how you 'scout' a place out if that's your playstyle and so on.

Third person also benefit quite a bit from focused development, allowing for very different cover and movement mechanics as well as different positioning in combat etc. Tomb Raider is a good example of this, allowing for much different level design and delivering a very different "TPS" experience.

Some games allow both and can shine with it (Deus Ex, anyone?) like the Arma games, but again that's an entirely different type of gameplay focusing on a far more tactical approach.

Wolfenstein here draws on a legacy of fast-paced and brilliant first person action, delivering a polished old-school shooter experience while drawing on the best mechanics from other FPS games, and it shines brightly as a result of that. I can confidently state that if the devs had added a third person viewmode that would have necessitated a very different level design and different mechanics which would in turn have ended up as something completely different from what we got.

There's plenty of room for Third-Person Shooter games and there's plenty of room for more old-school FPS games in today's market and I for one am very glad to see some developers polish their products lovingly, using the experience and knowledge gained over decades of developing a certain kind of game.

If you want a third person shooter, I recommend buying one. There's plenty of them out there. There's really no need to homogenize the market by forcing it needlessly on games that shine so much brighter without TPS, like Wolfenstein here.
If we want to be technical. the original Castle Wolfenstein was a third-person game.

Really, in 2014, all FPS's should offer TP options, and visa-versa. The only thing that stop devs from doing this that it's much easier to program an FPS character -- no model animations, limited environmental interaction, token cover systems (if at all)...

Well this is first person shooter, what's the problem? In my opinion there shouldn't be third person view available in any case. Look for some third person shooter if you want that. This is first person shooter and good one.
Is this a joke? its a FIRST person shooter, the whole game is designed around first person and would look insanely stupid and the camera would be annoying as hell in 3rd person. Theres plenty of games designed to be third person, the steam page says FIRST person shooter, or did you think it was fird person shooter it shot for? cos third becomes with a T
No sorry. It's Wolfenstein

Why? its a first person shooter, why should they change an entire genre because you want 3rd person? Should all strategy games offer a run and gun option so you dont need to use strategy? should all puzzle games have a fighter mode (ala street fighter) incase you want to beat your way past the puzzle?

Yes some games mix both but mostly thats games designed around being 3rd person as its easy to add a 1st person option to a 3rd person game but a 1st person game is designed around being in 1st person so 3rd person camera would mostly ruin it

Because the person asking about it here is trolling.
After reading the reviews on the game and all the problems ppl are having in even getting the game to start on 2nd thoughts no you are correct I am happy it is only FPS or I may have bought it myself.

It seems to work well in Skyrim with nothing taken away from the game play it just suits both types of players.
