Here: "We've set it up so that if you're running any mods, nothing will report to the leaderboards, you can't get achievements, and any profile changes (skulls earned or spent, etc) don't get saved. Essentially it's a big playground sandbox that leaves the specific elements of the core game intact."
Well the not saving part sucks. They should have done the same thing as Torchlight and made the two modes have different saves.
There was a live webcast last night where a few community membesr were testing out some mods on various maps (Story and Endless) and on the endless they completely shut down the Orcs.
No, I didn't read the update notes and no I didn't read the forums. I haven't played in a while and the addition of workshop got me interested in the title again. I'm not upset really, I just would suggest the developers add a more visible warning about no progress. Still a great game though.
In the hope that someone at Robot will listen to your public, and potential
future gaming customers.
This simple action will cost you nothing, but earn you love, respect and kudos from those who wish to keep playing OMD2, and enjoying it with more player made content.
In the single player experience.
My complaint with this ridicules ruling has nothing to do with outfits.
I play single player, and want to be able to use mods (any mods) and still have a y'know point in playing.
OK when the devs were still servicing this game, and adding content etc, even then to limit a single player experience with this use of mods is pretty absurd and totally unfair.
(I am not talking about playing it online) as we know with most mods if you have one installed and the other person doesn't the game wont match/launch in MP anyway.
But now the game is to all intents defunct, and that there is a very real modding community on Steam. Why oh why wont Robot entertainment, release a (even single player only) patch so we can enjoy the game, that we paid cash money for, andcan play the way we want.
Those who choose not to mod is their choice.
This will not only increase the longevity of a game that has been out a while. But also ingratiate them with this ruling and care in the eyes of the user. (me for one)
So please dev's help your payed up customers out.
Even if you do it like the Torchlight 2 model with a separate save game folder.
Any player who knows how to overcome this totally annoying precedent. (and if Robot choose not to play ball) please, Please let us and moi know.
Thanks in advance.
Andy.
To be fair, it is in the Starter Guide and it says "It is recommended you read the Starter Guide..." and links to it, on the top of Workshop front page.
But it's halfway down the first page of the Guide and barely noticeable - it should have been right at the top, in Bold, Italics, and Underlined. Better yet it should have been on the Workshop page itself as well as in the Starter Guide:
Hello, my frustration here is not about the online or multilayer aspect of the game. I can totally see how some people would strenuously object to them including mods and saving and the whole shebang.
My only issue is the single player part, & not being able to use Mods. It is only a VERY few devs that spoil the enjoyment of a game by limiting what has become a huge part of gaming, namely modding.
(in fact now I come to think of it I cant recall another single game that allows mods, only to restrict them in this insane way)
For them to put into place block, code (whatever) that stops even the most avid and clever modder being able to undo the option of no mods and saves in Single Player, is not only ridiculous, its ridiculously unfair.
And again its not even as if the game is brand new. Its been out almost 2 years.
We have paid our dues, and lined your sky rockets with the money for your hard work. Now at least let us enjoy the SP with mods, and saves.
As you can tell I feel pretty strongly about this madness.
