Some people love it - I think there are usually better uses for that much floor space.
Surround with damage traps. Scorchers, archers, pounders, etc.
Something with orcs but I forget.
Profit.
Building a killzone or two around a coinforge can easily lead to you having more money than you know what to do with.
Just to point out that building "around a coinforge" is what I don't like about it. I like to build a killbox - "box" as in floor, wall and ceiling traps all working together to kill much orc.
Doing that with a Coinforge requires very specific parameters in terms of finding areas that will support that big thing *and* have walls contributing to the damage *and* a ceiling contributing to the damage (Robodemon started out with "Depends on the stage" - very true).
If you have a Coinforge layout that works on a specific map - go kick some orc butt! But with a limited number of slots on my Toolbar, I find the Coinforge just limits your floor-trap-flexibility a bit.
There was a time the Coinforge was considered a staple element of Endless runs.
Too bad it doesn't yield a combo point. Without it, it's useless for high scoring. I suppose Robot considered it would have been "OP" (although its size limiting the killbox locations seems pretty balanced to me). Or it's simply a bug that was never fixed. The Grinder provided no combo point at first (fixed), neither did the Dwarven Missile Launcher (was never fixed).
Kinda culminated when I broke Passages:

Which led d2dota and Kholdy to pass the 1 billion mark, legit:

That community's now dead indeed, although Kholdy's been posting new record and impressive scores recently.
