Swinging Mace or Pounder.
Which one would you prefer. People reccommended the pounder partially because it doesn't knock enemies around but when I went back to beat the first game I found the mace to be really good, even if it costs a lot.

What would you choose.

Personally I always go for the mace. I've almost never had issues with the mace throwing enemies where I don't want them because the guys small enough to be thrown usually die before getting to the other side of the mace.

As long as you're aware of the risks (and benefits) of the mace throwing orcs around there's no reason not to use it. Try to find ways to use it to your advantage, throwing survivors into more traps, void walls or lava/acid.

My go-to cieling trap is usually the Haymaker tho, mainly 'cause it's so much cheaper than the mace, which matters on Nightmare as you're placing traps as you go and can have two Haymakers in place before you've even got enough money for one mace.

Be aware that they severely nerfed the mace from OMD1 to OMD2, toning down the damage and adding the push-around effect. They did this *because* it was slightly OP in OMD1.

I loved the haymaker when I started playing OMD! 2 and would have preferred it over the mace almost every time back then. With more gameing experience and especially in nightmare mode or where there is lots of space in endless games I came to like the mace because of the throwing effects that you can direct into killzones, and because with the mace you can place a very high damage trap that doesn't need reset time QUICKLY instead of picking three spots for say pounders. I didn't like the pounders at first because they are slow to reset, look unspectacular and hit only in a quick and short fashion, rendering them quite useless against runners, whereas the haymaker might kill several of a line of runners (also the first one will escape). I do play with pounders now in some maps, though, because they are comparatively cheap and can be upgraded to stun heavies. A row of them over a narrow, tarred tunnel of barricades is particularly effective when it comes to slowing down (and thinning out) a bunch of heavies after you have thinned out the small fry with a first killzone ahead. I prefer this over a mace in some maps, especially where the swinging mace or the haymaker would throw enemies where i don't want them. And I can use this tactic where there is just not enough space for a mace.

Yeah, I noticed it when I actually tried out the mace in the second game. I am disappointed that it doesn't insta gib all non boss enemies.
