Solo fighter build?
What would you recommend? I'm a newb but that doesn't mean I need an easy build, I need the strongest build so I can learn how to use it. Obviously we're talking PvP since if I can pvp I can pve as well.

:)

Don't forget to pop your second wind mid fight. Use it early and often as it can be refreshed with a camp.

Longsword/Crossbow or Weapon Mastery with Long or Survival Bow is definitely a staple Fighter build imo.

Crossbow and long sword but that's also kind of advanced too maybe stick with crossbow/bow with sword and shield at first whilst you are still learning to read AI attacks

I would advise you to start by getting familiar with the class and trying out different options. There is no one true strong build as a fighter. There are different variants that offer advantages and disadvantages.

In general, a skilled longsword fighter is a strong opponent. Good shield fighters are also strong and should not be underestimated. Whether you give up a free perk slot for a bow depends on your own build and preferences.

In general, good weapons are combos:

Shield/Arming Sword or Falchion + Crossbow/Bow
Shield/Flanged Mace + Crossbow/Bow
Longsword + Crossbow/Bow

Slayer Builds:
Arming sword/ short sword + crossbow
Falchion/Castallion dagger + crossbow

Another crucial factor is how much plate armor you want to wear or, if you play with two one-handed weapons, do without plate completely. Just try it out and see what you enjoy in combat and realize what suits you. Afterwards you are welcome to come back here with specific questions about stats, build crafting, tricks and so on.

Weapon mastery gives you alot of options to work with. If nothing else, learning each weapon for a few raids will give you some insight to each one might help you find your niche. Usually though, most fighters who take this usually take a bow over a crossbow due to the flexibility bows have over crossbows.
The perks and weapons are your playground.

I've been playing with a dex focused sword and shield fight build, dex being used for faster blocking.

using only greens in >125 gear score lobbies i can achieve 30 dex (easier to do with the new cat skin twitch drop) with at least 20-23 agi (and try to get move speed rolls on gear if possible) and a few pts in vigor. Focus on gear with a combo of base stats that include dex and either vigor or agi, this means very little plate which also means minimal negative magic resistance and higher move speed.

For weapons i use either an arming sword or falchion, with heater shield because it has more surface area and a grey survival bow as a secondary for fast peaks against rangers and spell casters. I also add a grey longbow in my inventory for long range engagements and when i need more armor pen and dmg output in fewer shots.

For skills: sprint, second wind.
Perks are: Weapon mastery, barricade, shield mastery, and counter attack.

you can bring 2 cross bows, so you dont have to reload. or weapon mastery so you can bring windlasses. They HURT. The bow is for sustained ranged fights when your crossbows are empty because you dont want to be reloading those during a fight.

For weapons, I def recommend bringing a round shield to fight arrows and warlocks. it also blocks zaps from wizards, but thats riskier. Whatever sword you like with that is up to you.

I would also bring a longsword, it is OP in pve, esp against blue skele archers. learn to parry and you will be doing 80+ damage per riposte. Strafe the arrows until you are in melee range, then they always do the push attack which you can easily parry and then the riposte is a guaranteed 1 shot. Only way to guarantee you dont take damage from them imo, a shield is too unreliable. For pvp, most people will know how to kite a longsword parry spammer, but vs another LS parry spammer it is a good weapon to use so you can just spam parry at each other and disengage, play mind tricks etc. One or two hits of that riposte will almost always kill, its insane damage, but probably the hardest weapon to actually use against anyone with braincells.
