Crossbows

Hi Foks.
I want to try out a different class this wipe and decided to play Ranger and want to play with the big heavy Crossbow :D .
But i've seen there is just one perk for the crossbow only. I mean its just a fun character nothing serious, but are crossbows just terrible ? its pretty wild i guess that the grey bow has only 10 damage less than the heavy crossbow, considering you have 3 perks for bow with movespeed and damage and reload.

Also i wanted to ask if the crossbow can take any of the skills that say bow ? forceful shot works with magic missile in multi classing so maybe ? Like quick shot and multishot, do they work on crossbows ?

Think the only skills available are Penetrating Shot and True Shot , every other skill specifies Bows.

Honestly, I think the Windlass would be better if you're playing with someone else who can keep people at bay, but you would absolutely devastate Plate users.

yes i will only play it in duos. a friend of mine likes to play fighter with shield so thats good i guess.
And yes you are right. I tested Multishot and Quick Shot and it does not work sadly :D.

Is Backstep a viable skill maybe to retreat quickly and reload ?

Maybe, I've never used backstep on Ranger myself but considering your options it probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

Maybe, I've never used backstep on Ranger myself but considering your options it probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

Backstep is more to dodge melee swing than to actually gain distance.
