It's on my wish list, just like Dungeon Stalkers. I'll have a look at both, and then we'll see whether DnD can still hold its own.
Both games are trying to break into the market that DnD currently dominates. I'm curious to see what they do better than DnD. In terms of graphics, they certainly look much better.
While dark and darker only has graphics and animations fro the paid assets. Gameplay wise is fully made by them.
So dungeonborne looks good but its plays like a default UE5 mechanics, no deep mechanics, nothing unique, nothing looks design by them
They use litteraly the same assets (look at the pots and skeletons) and animations than D&D :D
As for OP question, I'm on the fence. I think I prefer Dungeonborne but it lacks some complexity like multiple spells and choices of spells / buffs, passives, etc...
Everything else is pretty much better in Dungeonborne (level design, more game modes, less dark...) so I'll probably switch if my friends are okay (I know one of them prefer DaD so we'll see).
Most importantly, I have more trust in the DB team. IronMace has no idea what they're doing, the community is toxic af and will not help so I have really no hope for Dark and Darker.
To be honest, I'm more and more looking towards Hunt: Showdown but can't convince anyone to buy it :D
There is nothing wrong with making a game out of paid assets, But if no work is made on anything else (Which by the look of the gameplay they have not.) Then its going to disappear like most clones. I have known a few people buy assets and make a cool game out of them in college, really good games that are actually fun to play, But this just seems like another dev group making a lazy game.
I really do hope that DaD deals with the inane move speed meta next season, hopefully by deleting Lightfoot Boots.
That would be great. did they say anything about wanting to remove it? Because it was already there in the first Steam alpha :S
And I honestly agree, if Lightfoot boots didn't exist a lot of the move speed meta would be alliviated because then people couldn't have their movespeed cake and eat it too in a sense with only Lightfoots and Loose Trousers alone.
Think the dodge from 3d Zelda games, not the goofy roll from Dark Souls. If using it has some kind of a penalty and agility helps negate it, that would make it a worthy stat.
I just hope the cost will be reasonable and not AAA cost like some greedy Nexon rejects charge
Whether you "enjoy" it or not, you will never stop playing DaD or posting here to complain about. That is your personality on lock.
