how do i get more base gear?

i see some different base gears, i'm currently lv150 barb and have no felling axe in my base gear although others have? please explain if anybody knows something abt this

Resolve quest gives Skirrel better base loot.
But nothing better than "white" stuff....

Completing quests from the appropriate merchant will unlock new gear. Ranged weapons from woodsman, plate from armorer, so on and so forth. As the post above mentions, your base gear will never be better than common (color wise, you go from grey gear to white gear).

Complete the quests to earn reputation with merchants. For the Felling Axe you would need to raise Weaponsmith's reputation via his quests. Just +25 rep should make the gray Freeling Axe available in the Squire, if I'm not mistaken.
