Will I lose the contents of my chest if I change class?

F2p players here therefore only have one character slot. If I change the class, I assume I will lose everything my character is carrying. But is the storage chest also lost?

Storage is unique to the character outside of the shared stash that comes with legendary.

you can create new steam account. right now if you would deleted your character, you would lose your stash anyway.
and even if they would spare extra free slots, you wouldnt have any way to share your stuff. all the quests would be lost as well, you would have to do them for each character.
only thing you lose if you create new steam account with new char is blue stones for which you could have bought some skins, and maybe some in-game stat, thats it

Yes you will, I think they should give you guys two character slots because then you will understand how clutch that shared stash tab is too lol

they will spare few free slots eventually, this restriction makes no sense, leaves a bad first impression on the new players that deleting they 40lvl or whatever char with all the progression, and also can be avoided with multiaccounting, stash wouldnt share eatherway, neather do quest progression, so why is there a restriction in the first place, just for the motivatoin? whatever.

Well i already do this 4th times hahahaha
The first time i do this i delete my fighter with 2 extra stash tab. It feels terrible. But it is what it is.

yes, it is indeed feels terrible, and it is a common game experience for a regular player. player launch the game, play it for 10 hours, get a desire to try another class, well dear player, now buy the game or delete your character and all progess that you have goten yet. XD
I deleted my 40 or 50 lvl warlock at first, even while having 1 legendary item, for the sake of trying something else, and there is a lot of people that did the same.
Well, progress in this game doesent matter too much anyway, a lot of players always play under 25 gear score, and its take like 3 hours to get 15 lvl with all the talants, legendary item usually cost like loot from 2-3 dungeons because they are simply consumables in this game, you dont want to take and lose it, and you will probably be fine even without them.

After playing f2p a while and getting some stash I was also curious about other classes and lost my hard earned first loots. Being able to gear up is nice but not being able to try out different classes is not cool. Honestly feel like 1 more character slot would be awesome. Keeping the shared stash for Legendary but letting f2p try out more than 1 class to see whats up without worry of loosing progress if locked in for a while on a certain class. Looking forward to getting the full version when I can making due with what I have. I am pretty stoked I get to try it out at all after watching Youtubers play it for over a year now.
