Dark and Darker

What's The Point?
So you gain stuff to lose stuff? That seems to be the gist of this game. There's quests too but why should I do the quests? You can lose that stuff too right? There's no tutorial or anything that explains this game, so I have no idea if or why I should keep playing this game.

noticing the difference in movement speed and dexterity or spell cast from ♥♥♥♥ gear to good gear is fun. move speed cap feels amazing. If your heart doesnt start pumping when youre in a fight with your best gear you miss the point of the game and should go play cod.

Its a looter extraction, like all games with loot, the entire point of the game is watching your gold counter increase, and your hoard grow bigger.

More loot, more money, means you can fail more, but also win more. Means you can go to more dangerous parts of the dungeons and highroller, means you can potentially win more-

Like all RPG's thats the point, grow stronger, grow more skilled. So you can tackle stronger challenges to grow more.

Isnt that ever multiplayer game? Shoot, dies repeat.

the only thing that could balance the item loss , would be a rework of the skill system .

Well when you're talking about a $30 price tag and the game doesn't explain itself, there's a lot of "why" here. So does that mean that quests actually upgrade the base gear, so the very basal gear you can take with you (And ultimately cannot lose)?

Edit: I can see the fan boys coming out...

The entire point of the game is to go in, find better gear, get out, use that better gear to get even better gear - repeat until you finally die.

There is no story, or Battle Pass to keep you playing. You either enjoy going into a match, fighting and possibly dying, or you stop playing.

If you constantly need a carrot dangled in front of you to play, then I would suggest you look elsewhere.

It's okay to not enjoy a game and go find something else to play.

Same reason you play games as a service that might shut down, same reason people play Tarkov, Rust/ARK servers that wipe monthly, or games with 0 progression:

It's fun for them.

Yeah, OP doesn't even seem to know Tarkov and Dark & Darker are the types of games that wipe. They seem to just be at odds with the gameplay loop even before that.

I understand the logic behind the question. I felt the same way. Do your quests, and the Squire will unlock new default gear you can set as your base kit. My robe wearing cleric unlocked full body plate armor and has DRASTICALLY improved my survival. Best part, the gear is still gray and only gives me a GS of 9. Don't forget to stay at a GS of 24 or less to build up your gold supply and get some quest items done. Nothing to lose, everything to gain.

What a weird post. If you don't see a reason to play, why are you asking random strangers why you should keep playing.

Now don't take this personal, this is not an attack on YOU. But not every game will be made for YOU and you don't have to play every single game that releases. You'd save yourself trouble and money if you did any research on the game before playing.

Oh that explains a lot, so if I set a new default gear, I will never lose that gear?

Is this true? The only time I've seen the squire provide new items is when I take the Weapons Master Perk on Fighter

to get more loot, better loot.

if thats not your goal, then youre playing the wrong game.

Well why do you play PubG or similar games? Its battle royals. The whole point is to try to survive a run with minimal gear, then buy good gear or maybe bring a good piece ouf of the dungeon. So you basicaly go in cheap and try to horde good gear.
Why you horde it? Well usualy to do a high gear run at some time for the deeper dungeon.

The issue i had with this game when it was free before was that other players teamed up and ganked me. And all my friends are not interested into this game. So playing alone in this game is clearly a disadventage if people camp for solo players. So you basicaly do all the work, and they just wait as a bunch at the asumed middle/teleport exit. So when you get there toward the end of the round they just kill you in a group and steal your loot.

Back then this totaly ruined the fun for me and i stoped playing.

Now that its back free i want to check out if they fixed this issue or if its still the same nonsense. If it is im just gona deinstall it directly after i found that out.
