Last wipe was recently.
What you are asking about is multiclassing, it was unbalanced AF and is disabled at this time.
A wipe will fully reset your characters levels and stashes. Your characters (and their names) will always be stored and will receive their seasonal rewards based on their respective highroller AP rank from previous season.
The previous season had an experimental multiclass system, where at certain levels you were able to get perks from other classes, resulting in extremely broken builds and giving an advantage to no-lifers, because they had the most time to lvl up the fastest. This sytem might return at a later stage in some form.
Note that during the early stages of the game, the devs always hinted at a class specific skill tree system, which we haven't heard about in ages.
Back-up my claim: early adopter 800+ hours in and still playing.
