The wipes generally come with a seasonal leaderboard reset. It makes sense to wipe it for leaderboards because otherwise it would give people a leg up over those who don't play all season, and allow them go into high roller games with gear already
Each of your characters has a "Fame" level, which is the cumulative level of your character across all seasons. Also any cosmetic unlocks you earn will persist through wipes.
Wipes are an exciting part of Dark and Darker, as it rekindles the population of the game. Players get excited to fight on even footing again after many spend months accumulating powerful items to use in the dungeons.
It also creates an interesting scenario near the end of wipe where everyone is running their BEST kits, complete with artifact weapons (sometimes several per player).
They introduced "Fame" this season, which carries over to the next season. You also earn seasonal rewards which carry over to the next season, so can end up with things like a skin or race that can only be gotten once.
Every three months, roughly. This season is just starting, so not for a while.
Bluestone/Redstone don't reset on wipe, no. In the past, it has reset triumph levels (the thing you earn bluestone with) which makes earning bluestone easier. This last wipe didn't reset Triumph levels though.
Personally i wouldnt mind an offline single player mode that has a bigger story to it / world building but thats the lore junkie in me talking.
