Lag issues... only me?

Me and my sister have been really into this game recently however every time we play we are met with crazy lag spikes. It happens quite frequently and is extremely frustrating. Our pc's run other games buttery smooth so I don't understand why this game is any different. Please let me know if this is a common thing or if there something we can do to fix it.

Please differentiate between whether it's about Internet lag or FPS lag.

Dark and Darker has some optimization issues, but also, from what I can recall, the Epic settings are particularly problematic because of them being uncompressed or something along of those lines and are mostly meant for a photo mode (pictures, NVIDIA Ansel). This might have changed since the last time I checked, which admittedly was over a year ago. Stepping down from Epic textures in particular might help. I personally play with low settings for (way) better visibility.

Enabling AMD FSR2 (if on an AMD or older NVIDIA graphics card) or DLSS if on a NVIDIA card can also boost performance.

If it's about Internet lagspikes (e.g being teleported around) then that sometimes just happens in periods. Usually indicative of a DDoS attack on the servers (at least that has been the narrative in the past).

Did you pick the server closest to you? are you on wifi? there are many things that can cause this. It sounds like internet lag not gameplay. Look into that

Yeah same issue, 3070ti decent setup.. I’ve tried A LOT of troubleshooting and still having issues. Done a full reinstall, nearly every setting change possible.. still will freeze and get my char killed. Packet loss tests and all that came back perfect. Ran a ping test in cmd prompt while playing and all packets sent and received as I was frozen and killed in game.

Did the same still get the same annoying stutter that stops me in my tracks and will cancel spells, PVP is basically impossible when every other spell you cast gets cancel from my game stuttering and freezing every like 15 sec, I'm pretty confident its not my connection on my end at least

This. people living right next to the server location say " i got no problums her". Not everyone has the privilege of living right next to Dark and Darker servers.
Gotta git gud and move to Oregon or Virginia. Obviously.

Oh no like even those that are -In your server region- are still having issues.
Some of them are even like "I get no lag if i connect to servers further away"

And of course not to mention the first few days online had horrific server issues where no one could connect.
Followed by bouts of connection losses from the hot fixes they were doing.
Not surprising is all but wish we had more info, least some semblance of "We're looking into it guys!"

game is not good on wifi. I'm not sure if they can optimize it better for wifi. Most people experiencing heavy rubber banding (myself included) are playing over wifi.

not just you rubberbanding has got me killed more then a few times

I have tried every "fix" for this issue. Any time there's another player nearby (doesn't even have to be visible), the game just goes into impossible stuttering and lag. I've tried and tried. Fk this game until this is fixed. I'm glad I didn't pay for it.

This is a known issue within the community and Ironmace, their servers are really trash. There is frequent rubber banding, lag, stuttering, desyncing, etc.

So don't worry, it's not you guys, despite what some people will say. Just yesterday there was a dude who was complaining about it, complete with video evidence, in their noobie discord The Hall of Knights. 7k PC and he was getting horrible stutters, rat jumped through a door (playing as Druid obviously) the game decided "f*ck you" stuttered, froze and he got sniped by a Bola Goblin and died by the time the game unfroze. Lost an 8k kit.

Happens to me a lot too, particularly when an enemy player is near or when I'm in combat. Sucks but oh well, until IM decides to do something about it we're screwed. Some people have no issues at all, they are the lucky ones.

I just died in the fight right now coz of this stupid freeze, ♥♥♥♥ this game, im not playing this until they do something to repair this ♥♥♥♥
