Is there a way to upgrade gear?

I see the Armourer sells Ingots, can they be used to Upgrade armor?
I saw a guy in a lobby yestoday with a full set of Purple gear and i'm just dumbstruck as to how he has gotten all that.

No that purple gear was probably just found.
Either in high-roller or certain “rare” chests you find in normal dungeons.

Though you can craft upgraded gear with ingots / powders but you have to unlock the recipes from quests.
Not sure if any major ones have been implemented.

You can also just buy them at the marketplace from other players.
