Dark and Darker

ROADMAP ??
Do we have a clear road map for this game from the Dev ? What's the plan ? What are the future implementations ? Is he gonna develop the RPG side a bit more ? That would be great... This has a huge potential to be hardcore D&D crawler. but we need a bit of storytelling, a more consistent world, tavern, quests, merchants needs to be in-game... Give us more, there's no other games like this out there and I don't want to have to start to dev my own...

I wouldn't expect them to go more into the pve side at all. That is not what the game is designed to be.

Yet for the past 10h of me playing it's been 90% PVE.... I actually find the balance between PVE and PVP really nice. We're all in a PVE environment competing for the same thing. It's a zillion times smarter than simple PVP arena. It actually reminds me of the Netflix show Delicious in Dungeon !

The roadmap is to wait for Dungeonborne to be released and then go play that

That game was such a joke lol. The issues and balance problems that game had made dark and darker look like it was perfect .

Only points it actually gets is the castle level looked pretty good even though you could tell it was a prebought asset they threw together in a week.

Oh crap didn't know that... Well so I guess there is hope for Dark & Darker to stay top of the list then... I mean I do quite a lot of Unreal Engine myself, I'd be happy to help them evolve in the right direction

They had a few good ideas and competition is the key to success. So I hope they come out and make DaD keep getting better.

For example they did the rogue stealth being visible while moving thing. That is kinda where that idea came from. That game however plays a lot more like a battle royal .

From their most recent Q&A, more maps, rework of the ruins map, equipment and classes are coming but not this season. We can expect balancing and bug fix patches this season along with account linking, possibly arena and a ranking for High Roller that will come with seasonal rewards based on your rank at the end of season, and quests that will release every week till end of season. They also said they are working on matchmaking for this season and the first iteration of in-game NPCs (they will stash items for you in between dungeon floors) that will release down the line.

I made a post with a rundown of the recent QnA, which has latest tidbits of coming features, here:

Thanks for that !

I'd love to see more character customization as well and different races a bit more than just skins to buy

I love PvE element, unfortunately some PvE content is so hard I don't even know how to approach that. Killing goblins and mummies is breeze, skeleton champion already quite an issue but they're ok, but then you get troll, lich, underground hell etc – you need to learn every slightest animation to beat them.

I don't say it's bad, I don't know the alternative. But unlike, say, in Dark Souls you can go to boss and have at least some chances beating it with a single run. In Dark and Darker, you have 0 chances beating a boss if you didn't learn every single move of them. You can annihilate entire normal map then go into hell and have absoulte zero chances. There's so much gap between normal PvE and this harder content. There's no intermediate. That makes PvE kinda suck, and limited just to goblins-skeleton-mummies-spiders.

Otherwise, you can still spend hours suiciding into bosses trying to learn all their moves, which also require time to get to them, means many more hours just to find them, and/or watching youtube how to evade all their attacks to save time. It's not game anymore. It's becoming your work. You're sitting learning some guides etc, and spending time on wikipedia. Optimizing fun out of the game. Meh..

If you put out a product, AND charge money for it, people have the right to critique it. Now do I want to see devs being harassed? No. Of course not... but this whole 'gamers are so critical' thing? They should be... when we keep getting CoD grade slop EVERY SINGLE YEAR we haven't been critical enough, atleast of AAA devs... and that creates the problem we have in the AAA spectrum and why Indie games are surpassing them... we ARE critical (to a fault) of Indie devs... for better or for worse...
